Guest NeilEB
Does anyone have a good salary calculator they can point me towards? I'm trying to do a budget and see if a role I'm interested in is affordable. Thanks

thombatt
Flood levy is a one off tax administered at a Federal level. The levy is in place for one year. It is paid by all Australian taxpayers
boganbear
I think it works out at being about $75 for most people so its only the cost of a couple of slabs of beer

Skani
is it not a normal thing then that is paid regardless if theres been floods or not ? The flood levy idea was introduced in January this year and is supposed to apply to earnings in the 2011 - 2012 financial year ONLY (July 2011 to June 2012). It was imposed because of the enormous damage in the Queensland floods in January. Anyone who earns under $50,000 pa will not pay the levy. Annual income between 50 and 100 thousand dollars will pay a levy of 0.5%. Income over that will pay 1.0% People affected by the floods will also not pay the levy.
