De-facto relationship proof! Please help

I am applying for skilled working visa 175. I am a midwife and my partner is an electrician, we are both n the SOL, while my job is in very high demand. We are planning to apply on the same visa, with me being the primary applicant. The main issue we have is that although we live together, we live together in my parents house. We have had to do this while we are saving for a morgage. I am 24 and he is 26. This means we have no bills ect. We have a joint bank account which we put money into each month to save and also the council tax comes out of this account for my parents house. We also have lots of photos ect and could supply letters from friends and family. We have been together for over 2 years now.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has been in this situation and if you had your visas accepted???

Please help as this is the main thing worrying me about our application!

Thanks for your time.

Francesca

DIAC will want to see proof that you are a couple...so joint bank account statements is good evidence. Affidavit's from friends, family or employers stating your relationship is serious and ongoing - especialy from the family you are currently living with - is acceptable. Good Luck!!!

Hi,

Me and my partner have just applied for a 175 visa, we are not married (or even engaged) but do live together and have 3 children. So our situation is slightly different to yours but the means for proving your relationship should be the same. This is what we have had to do to prove our relationship is genuine and true;

1. Provide scans/copies of any joint bills (gas/elec, telephone, council tax, bank account, mortgage, car insurance), showing 2 different bills for each over the last 2 years. We didn't have all of these but just show what you do have in joint names.

2. Photographs of us as a couple - we gave about 8 here again covering the last few years - if you have any of special events e.g. weddings/birthdays/christmas etc include these. Along with the photo we gave a description of when/where it was and who was in the photo.

3. A statutory declaration, one by me and one by my partner, this had to cover;

Where we have both lived together/currently live together

A detailed description of the nature of our relationship e.g. social activities/domestic arrangements (who pays the bills/does the dishes etc)

Any other significant event which may have occured (e.g. death in the family did your partner give support?)

4. Whether both your families consider you a part of their family?

5. Details of contact between you and your partner if you have spent time apart.

Then finally two volunteers, family/friends, to state in another declaration that your relationship is true/genuine - explaining how long they have known you both, when/how you all met and how often you stay in touch. I think there is a form for this called form 888.

Oh and any wedding invites/correspondence between you will also be useful.

I hope that helps?

ME! Both me and partner have been together for almost 2 years when we applied it, and he was in my country on a tourist visa for 2.5 years (visa run every 3 months), and he CAN'T open a bank account, or basically nothing much at all. But he can still rent under his name (and me as witness, cos well, we didn't know it'll be THAT important later on). We don't have much proof to begin with... Utilities are under landlord's name so landlord wrote a letter through his lawyer saying we're living on his property, utilities in Malaysia is different, hence under his name, etc... We have 3 rental agreements to proof we've been living in 3 different apartments. But first rental doesn't have my name as I haven't met him yet till somewhere in the middle. I have letters sent to all addresses, BUT NONE with both our names. Letters and postcards from friends helped a lot.

Photos aplenty, stat decs from friends and some friends that are royalties (hehe) probably helped a bit?! Sent in my resume, my tax returns, employer's recommendations, stat dec from my dad which is more like a letter to DIAC :P, and I try to put in almost everything I can think of that could help me - in terms of telling DIAC i won't be having trouble looking for a job. Tried applying for a few jobs online, all positive feedbacks telling me to get my ass over before they can do anything.

Hi we got our visa based on us having a joint account, that was mine but my partner was named on it but never used the account, we both had seperate houses, we had been together just over 2years I also have 2 children from a previous relationship! You just never know what will happen every case is different and Im sure if you put in the reasons why you are staying at your parents which is a great valid reason they will take that into consideration.

We also had wedding invitations to friends weddings.

Best of luck and hope your dream comes true just be patient and dont worry, it was all we could think about for a long time and it drove us crazy if its meant to be it will be!!!

We too have the joy of living with parents at the moment! We are defacto- we sent joint bank account, photos, invitions, and a joint letter explaining our situation and explaining about our relationship (eg been together for x amount yrs, lived together, who pays what- bills/socialising state it is a long term relationship and each of you is consider part of the others family- tell of family events-weddings/birthdays etc when you have oth attended etc) Also sent 2 certified statements from family members explaining how long we knew each other, consider us family etc etc

We had no problem and werent asked for anything else by CO.

Goodluck! x
