Harpersgirl
Hello hello  How will we know whether we need a medical or come to that who will need a medical? Having studied the DIAC guidelines my interpretation is that we won't BUT I keep seeing posts about children having medicals and am now wondering about my two littlies? My husband is the main applicant for a 457 in Perth, with myself our 20 year old twins, 6 year and 3 year old. Is it worth booking with our nearest panel doctor in case? Peach
For a 457 visa most applicants will not require a medical (normally only people working medical professions). If at a later stage you apply for permanent visas then the whole family will need to undertake medical examination.
Guest guest17520
Hi, I needed a medical for my 457 back in 2007 and I'm not in a medical job - I work in an office. Best thing to do is wait to see if DIAC ask you to get it done.
rammygirl
Yes with 4 adults and two little uns you are looking at over £1000 I wouldn't do it if you don't have to. Just a thought with the 2 20 year olds will they remain dependent on you long enough for them to get PR?

Phoenix16
peach is quite right,I believe the rules changed in recent times, we are on a 457, Hubby and daughter did not require a medical, I didn't either actually but as I declared a pre existing medical condition on the visa application my migration agent strongly urged me to have one in the event that DIAC subsequently requested one. in the end I had a medical at Manchester, all went very smoothly and the 457 was granted 3 days after the visa application was submitted!
