Not having to tip

Oh thats one of the most wonderful aspects of Australia:tongue:

My home ...I would miss not being able to afford to live near the river

My pademelons and birds

The meat

My family and friends and the friendliness of the Australian people

I would miss Tasmania greatly, I have always classed this state as my "home for life"

And I have no intention of going back EVER!

There are plenty of things in AU that are not available over here.... I am able to do some of these things at home, so its not the actual 'thing' that I miss, its the experience, the quirkiness, surrounding and memory I miss. But just like a holiday, its nice to be home!

Outdoor swimming pools

Melbournes trams

Festivals in the park

Lygon street (italian restaurants)

Quirky towns

Vic Market

Farmers markets

Baby and kids markets

Beautiful wild birds in the trees

Children's farms with Kangaroo's etc

Close knit mothers group meetings once a week

My friends beach house

Undercover parking and undercover shopping on a hot day

Philadelphia sweet chili pour overs

Turkish bread

Buying meat, veg and fruit, fresh from the local market

Cabana and cheese

Going to peoples homes and taking a 'Plate' (I do this now here! Start a new trend! hehehe)

There are certainly many of those things you can do in the UK but as you say often it is the place, the surroundings etc.

I agree about the parking places, it's also strange the closer you get to the city the smaller the spaces become

I have no plans to leave but if I was going to head back to the UK, I would miss (in no particular order)

The clean beach (less than a minutes walk from my door)

The sunrise from the beach or my balcony

The sunset from the nearest hill!

The public transport (yes - even on Sydneys Northern Beaches it is better than I experienced in the UK!)

The walks on the beach after work

Falling out of a cab at the beach and sobering up sitting on the steps to the sound of the surf

Getting all sweaty with housework and running into the sea to cool off

Being able to walk down the street or pop into a shop in swimmers and not get looked at as if strange

The awful driving skills of the natives (and been-here-a-long-timers)

The way I can cross a street and cars wait for me even if they have a green light

The easy-going nature of the place

The 'feel' of it

Sand EVERYWHERE!!!! ALWAYS!!!

The 'amazing-ness' of everything our forefathers acheived here in such a very short space of time

The idiots

Being able to walk around with no shoes/thongs on

The Northern Beaches men and their arrogance

The sexiness of the local rowing club boys/men!

Radishes that are bigger than tomatoes

Watching people trying to reverse park (how funny!)

Pokies

SLSC men

See-weed wrapping round my legs

$13 bottles of bubbles in the RSL

$20 bottles of bubbles in the hotels

The ferry & home to & home from work across the harbour

Crappy tasteless waxy cheese

The views from West Head and Long Reef

Losing my swimmers in the heavy surf

Trips outback to do Red Dirt Drives (in rentals!!!)

The fantastic friends I have made

And finally - before you get too bored...

Myself! I have 'found' myself here and I don't want to go back to who and where I was before I got here...

I love it!!

:)

I really miss surfers paradise now that we are back home, we loved it there, we went in the 24 degrees water everyday boogie boarding with the kids, the surf was great and just to see the kids outside, instead of being stuck in doors like they are in the uk was magic. The weather was sunny and fabulous and we were out and about all over the place, its a different life over there and we all really miss it.
