Based on a telephone conversation I have had in the last half hour the legislative change is intended to give TRA the authority to delegate the assessment process for certain trade skills occupations to several competent bodies/Registered Training Organisations. It does not invalidate assessments previously obtained, and as a result of this change we are likely to see authority given to VETASSESS and others for the skills assessment of more occupations than has pertained thus far - as witnessed by the addition of occupations and jurisdictions noted on the VETASSESS website earlier today.
