  1. Hiya all, just wondering if anyone can clarify something for me please? Heres the details to start incase that helps. Hubby has done a 2 year foundation degree and has then went on to do a full 3 year BA Honours Degree in Youth/Community Studies which he wil have completed around this time 2014. I have read different things about which grade you come away with affecting your chances of your degree being recognised by the assessing authority ( ie: a 3rd, a 2:2 or a 2:1 etc) .....does anyone know if the grade matters and if so does anyone definitely know what the minimum required is please as Im having a total wobble on.....:arghh:

    DIAC V Assessing Authority???

Hi all, can anyone answer this plz? i have looked at the ANZCO description of Welfare Worker again which is skill level one. Now when it was ASCO the skill level was Diploma or above but now its ANZCO its changed to Bachelor Degree or 5 years exp, but it says that this may not be the same skill level as the assessing authority AIWCW. Thats correct, it is not the same as the AIWCW states a Diploma is the req qualification to be assessed for migration??? S how does that work? you can be assessed at diploma level but willDIAC then refuse your visa for not meeting their skill level? If so thats completely crazy and doesnt make sense?

    Need Help Assessing My Skill

Hi, my name is Yongky, 29 y.o. I'm originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, and I'm currently taking a masters degree in Media Arts and Production at University of Technology, Sydney. I've been here in Sydney for only 3 weeks now and I'm in love with this city! Which is why I'm trying to apply permanent residency. And that's when I found my self in trouble. I've worked for over 5 years in Indonesia as a 3d artist, worked mainly on television commercials and a couple of music videos. So I thought that I might be able to find my occupation in the Australian SOL, but alas I can't. Closest I got to it is graphic design which would give me 50 points, but then I would need another 5 points (115 out of the required minimum of 120). So I searched around and I found TAFE's website putting 3D Animation under the Graphic Pre-Press category. Lo and behold, Graphic Pre-Press Trades-person can get me 60 points which means that I could get 125 points! However, I can't seem to be entirely convinced because I tried calling TRA (the assessment authority for Graphic Pre-Press Tradesperson) and the lady said that she's not sure about 3d animator being assessed by TRA and that I should try and contact ACS (Australian Computer Society, which mainly handles all IT-related skill assessments) instead. So could anybody please help me with this? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello guys, I need your help in assessing how much of my base salary will actually make its way into my account (i.e. how much is deducted for whatever reasons). Where I'm from things are a bit different and in order to assess what weekly rent etc. I can afford it would be great to have a good estimate of how much $$$ I will have at my disposal. So, the base salary will be 60,000 AUD The employer states that they will contribute 10.3% of the annual base salary into a super fund of my choice. My understanding is that this will be deducted from the 60,000. Base 60,000 ./. Super 6,180 ./. Income Tax 12,000 (from ATO homepage) ./. Medicare Levy 900 (1.5% from Base) = Available 40,920 Is that about right (i.e. does it cover all mandatory expenses)? Or will there be more deductions? P.S.: Basic health cover is seriously only 1.5% of your base? That makes Australia even more heaven than it already is...

    Assessing work experience

I understand that an assessing authority take your qualifications into account when deciding if you meet the criteria for a particular occupation, but at what stage and by whom does your work experience get assessed? Is this proven purely by references from current/former employers? Help, I'm confused!
