dublin to Melbourne with 3 kids- advice needed

We will be soon getting to the stage of booking flights for family of 5 to melbourne from Dublin. ( Kids 10 8 3)

Looking at various options and just looking for advice from anyone who has gone through the process.

There seems to be good value with BA/Quantas but this means going through Heathrow and I'm not sure if we only have to book luggage in once at Dublin airport etc.

Also when is the best time to book flights for June- do wait until 6/8 weeks beforehand for sales ...

Anyway andy help would be greatly welcome

Howya Paddygunner. Our best trip was with Cathay Pacific.Dublin-Frankfurt[2hrs there],Frankfurt-Hong Kong[overnight there] then Hong Kong-Brisbane.We found this good for the kids because they had a short flight to get into the swing of things and the longest leg was 10hrs.Frankfurt was a breeze. You can check in luggage straight through to final destination and if doing an overnight somewhere just pack a wee carry on bag.We did fly to Brisbane but am sure you could do similar to Melbourne.Dublin-Dubai is also a good way to go for flight times.Good luck and hope this helps.
