Guest soumya
I would say you are almost in. :fish: Good luck for ACS ! Thanks Machang. ACS changed my application status to "In progress" & also assigned an officer to it on 29th March. This was post getting the full fees & post acknowledging my application. Based on the current ACS speed, doubt if they can finalize my case prior to 2 months & thats also on a very optimistic note ...
Guest activa
You can turn me brown. "no demand", which is a little weird as I have been working as a software architect in the field of mobile applications (iPhone/iPad/Android/...) for the last 3 years and have a total of +20 years of professional experience as a developer/architect. The mobile applications market is "smoking hot" in Europe and North America, but I guess Australia doesn't have iPhones and iPads yet :-) No plan B though... unless the new points system doesn't go ahead on July 1st. You would think so, but I don't have a formal degree. In the current points system, this is not really a problem because most points are collected by having a positive skills assessment. Maybe New Zealand has iPhones

Guest tootzkie
activa and oblixious, I feel you guys. I thought I gonna make it. I was very confident at first, (with 12 years of IT experience in top companies around middle east, Asia Pacific and Europe) rejection never be in my head. But now i feel a little bit apprehensive about trying other states. My plan B is applying in ACT. I'm worried, maybe ACT is also like Victoria that only needs IT people with banking experience. Has anyone here applied ACT recently? My fund has just deposited only last week. Could I use it now for a proof of fund? Would they require at least 3 months bank deposit? In the meantime, I did reply to the rejection e-mail stating that my area of expertise is currently one of the most wanted specialisations in the world. My skills (mobile applications) are in very high demand in Melbourne and Sydney, so that's why I applied for SS in Victoria.
Guest obelixous
Hey Activa Sorry to hear about this, you are right the Mobile market is smoking hot all across the world. Just read a report somewhere that the size is US$ 17 Bn for the apps market. Wish you all the best for other plans.
armandra
Dear All, I received an email from VIC SMP today asking for my ACS skills assessment & my planning was so pathetic that I had filled SS in mid Dec but started my ACS application much later (March). Wanted to know if their are folks who provided their assessment letter post VIC asking for it & subsequently their application was rejected. Or should i keep muh fingers further crossed in anticipation that the letter request can lead to a favourable decision. I wouldn't jump in air as yet feeling sky blue (if not blue) taking it as approval-in-waiting. Just part of Vic's standard process I guess. There are 2 scenarios though, provided an applicant hasn't submitted his/her skills assessment: Scenario 1. Vic forwards the CV along with others and if the Industry Panel (IP) rejects the case, then rejection is sent across, but if the IP happens to approve it, they ask for assessment and approve once assessment is provided. Scenario 2: Vic doesn't even forward the CV to IP, and wait until the skills assessment is provided. So, I'd keep my fingers crossed. P.S: Unfortunately, me too in the same boat. Anticipating the same mail by next week (applied for SS in Jan and for ACS yesterday i.e, 13th April) armandra!

If they found you to be fit, then they will want to see how legitimate your claims made in CV, hence ask for the ACS letter. I'm 99% sure that s/he will received VIC grant once s/he get green light from ACS:radar:

But my point is in normal cases, Vic sends a conditional approval saying SS is valid for 3 months provided the skills assessment is submitted within the time frame. SMP Update on others : -One of my friends received a SS from VIC , he had not submitted the IELTS or the SS, he has got a conditional approval from VIC for 3 months to get his IELTS and ACS for the role he had applied for. 261111 - Bus Analyst , ( Trade Qualification), in VIC since 2007 , currently on 457 with a Aus ICT company, applied for SMP Nov2010. He might not be able to get the acs in 3months where in his SMP is probably wasted. I didn't complain about their policies and I also didn't attack them, but I did I point out that the decision is not very logical: "no demand" is not correct given the current market conditions. Maybe they only have banker ICT guys in the industry panel. In that case it's my obligation to tell them that there are other things in ICT than banks

You need to present them how 'strong' you are and how 'faithful' you to the state. Do not afraid to challenge their policies and I could tell you that I have done that twice and 'won' both occasions . Now, please do not ask me what are those
