new VIC SMP - where are you now

It is really difficult to figure out exactly what is going on behind the scenes with regard to the VIC State Sponsorship. Firstly, some people recieved a request to sign a declaration even though they had already signed it during the application submission, and others did not. Then out of those who received this request, the email wording seems to have differed...for me and others on PIO , the wording was "We have recently made a change to the assessment process which requires you to complete an additional sponsorship declaration " while on another forum, I have seen wording like the ones we above, but I have also seen others where the wording is "The assessment process requires you to complete a sponsorship declaration and return the signed document to the Skilled and Business Migration Program " without mentioning that it is an additional declaration or that it is a change made recently.... Another thing is that some of the guys who responded with a declaration have received acknowledgement emails that their declaration has been added to their files while others like me, have not received any acknowledgement. And finally there is the issue of the Case IDs increasing. I think a good sign is that they added new occupations and specialisations to the Eligible Skills and that may mean that they have not yet reached their quota, which is a good thing.

I guess it depends on the processor of your application. Let there be two of them. One's a nice guy and send's a copy/paste response to acknowledge the received docs, the second is a lazy bum and does only the necessary. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Any clue as to why???

Don't worry too much. You can at least contact them and ask!

I have no choice, I don't know the case ID no way to track since agent applied :dull:

Some News from another forum...someone has recieved a Victoria SS Sponsorship Grant email. He applied on 4th November, received a request for another declaration yesterday, he signed it,scanned and emailed it yesterday, and today he received the grant email. I have asked him what his occupation is and hopefully he will respond.

That means we might hear something very soon (either positive or negative) depending on how the industry panel works. I am assuming one panel for whole ICT. Anybody have any ideas regarding Victorian industry panels?

It used to be (2009) that pretty much everyone in that section - ie ICT heard at the same time (within the same week - or following week latest).

However, if there have been loads of applicants maybe VIC will change things?

They seem to have been changing a few things by the sounds of this thread.

thanks VickyMel. I am hoping that it is the same. It certainly looks like at least one ICT panel has met. I guess ICT applicants that applied in first week of Nov have a high likelihood that their CVs have been reviewed by the panel. This is exciting!

From the previous posts I see his occupation is Network Security

Oh God! I am also 2231-79 (with specialization in Network Security). I applied on 4th Nov. I was asked to resubmit declaration on Monday and sent it same day. I have received their acknowledgment of declaration received today. I am in same situation with the person above. Is it also me near to the SS approval regarding to lexbunde story above?

Ok..I'm trying to guess something, what if Vic is sorting all the applicants for a given ANZSCO code based on the number of years work experience from highest to the lowest & then assessing them case by case starting from the highest number of years!

May be my own hallucination :goofy:

I think they sort people by ANZSCO and compare people in same ANZSCO together.

VIC were also a bit funny with length of service in ICT - in 2009 we saw many people with years of relevant experience rejected - whilst some with much less experience accepted. I think that the industrial panel may look at the applicants with regard to what the local market is actually looking for..?

Yeah, this could be true. But you are forgetting the Industry panel. Vic don't review cases individually. They review cases in a bunch (one bunch in one panel). At least one panel has met already. One theory could be that the panel met for a specific specialization (in this case network security). If there were a considerable number of applicants with specialization in network security, then this could be true. I think ordering by experience would just mean more work for Victorian staff without much gain. In the end the panel recommends which ones make it and which don't. So, the panel has to go through each CV anyway. What would be the point of pre-ordering the CVs in this case?

In other case, assuming they had a general ICT panel, in my opinion it doesn't make sense to present the panel with only the applications that have many years of experience. It would be more efficient to present the panel with all ICT applications received until a certain date. This way they can process a large number of applications in one go. Some get in some don't, it's not Victoria's problem. This is specially true where it may take a while to have another ICT panel meeting.

I think they present the industry panel with all ICT people together until certain date and select best people regarding to their ANZSCO and labor market.

I have realized that applying for Permanent Residence in Oz makes someone a blog junkie. You are always checking some blog or checking some government or state website for news or for any change to your status...first it was checking the Australia Computer Society site daily for status, then checking the IELTS site for results, then now checking the Victoria Site site for status or waiting for the decision email, and then if you are successfull with Victoria, you start checking the DIAC site for status of your 176 application. At the end of this all we will be experts in blogs and applications and hopefully we will have learnt a great deal of patience coz this whole process forces us to learn patience... I really cannot wait for life after this process.... just imagine it...no checking of status daily or waiting for some email or praying that rules dont change once again. I wish the best for all of us and hopefully we are all granted sponsorship....come on Victoria, you can do it!!
