Guest VickyMel
Thanks Alan, much apreciated. One more question. Does anyone know if we need to do a skills assessment before we sumbit an application for state sponsorship? I think it varies between states - some do some don't. VIC doesn't although I did hear of them asking for some evidence of skills once before granting SS.
clickettuk
I wonder when ACT's SMP is going live??? Anyone heard from them yet?? Today's announcement from DIAC was pretty rubbish! It didn't really give much more information on the SMPs. I popped an email across to ACT to see when their SMP is likely to be activated (it seems to be ready from judging by the emails everyone received last week). Hopefully ACT is next in line after VIC who went live today. :arghh:

claireg
And, DIAC are now processing Cat 2 up to lodgement date 24 Dec 08. So if ACT do release SMP this week then they are only procesing VIC & ACT. Current Processing Dates If your application date has recently come into our current processing date range you should allow at least 6 weeks to enable a case officer to complete the initial assessment. Please refrain from sending requests for an update on the status of your application within this 6 week period. Priority Processed Applications Under the priority processing direction we are currently processing applications with a nominated occupation that appears in an active State Migration Plan - Priority Group 2. Assessment of cases which fall into Priority Group 3 will re-commence once all cases in Priority Groups 2 are finalised. Priority group 4 cases will be allocated once all Priority Group 3 are allocated. To determine which priority group your application falls under please read the information on the department’s website at: General Skilled Migration For further information regarding State Migration Plans please visit the department’s website at: What's New? Recent Changes in General Skilled Migration http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/statmig-fs.pdf http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/statmig-faq.pdf Applications lodged before the following dates are currently being considered by a case officer: Skilled – Independent (Migrant) subclass 175 VE 175 (e-lodged): 24 December 2008 VE 175 (paper): 24 December 2008 Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) subclass 176 VE 176 (e-lodged): 24 December 2008 VE 176 (paper): 24 December 2008 Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) subclass 475 VF 475 (e-lodged): 24 December 2008 VF 475 (paper): 24 December 2008

Also great news about the dates they're processing (December 2008). I reckon with all the Case Officers working on Cat 2 only, they will get through applications really quickly and will soon be processing early 2009 lodgements. Can't wait for ACT to be added to Cat 2, hopefully by the end of the week according to some other threads.

George Lombard
Good news - the Victorian website is now allowing subclass 176 nomination applications, see Skilled - Sponsored (176) Visa - Live in Victoria . Cheers, George Lombard Apparently it is, but the Web site performance is very bad, a lot of time error pages are returned, response times are awful... They clearly haven't done any performance testing on this one, or didn't have a clue what kind of load it will need to sustain once open:cry:

zhanylka
Hi guys! What do you think how long will be being processed the applicants for 176 visa? If one from the Category 3 is going to obtain a sponsorship now and to transfer his 175 to 176 class will his waiting time ( almost 1 year and five months) be counted to the period of waiting, or one will start queing from the time of transfering his application to 176 visa, that is from this date?
