I feel so helpless:cry: Hi NoRegrets Welcome to Poms in Oz. I happen to be going through VB's lists at the moment, trying to analyse the whole thing. God knows what is going on with Pharmacists. According to the CSL, there is a critically short supply of Pharmacists throughout Australia, especially in regional Oz. If that is not true then not only is the CSL wrong but there is every reason to be suspicious of some of the other occupations on it as well. There is every reason to be suspicious of the new SOL as well. Susan Wareham McGrath is a Registered Migration Agent in Oz. I am not sure but I think she is an Aussie by birth. I am in the UK so what she said "last night" is last night UK time, OK? Susan said: The other thing that has bothered me for a long time about the new SOL is that it is based almost entirely on the advice of a board that was handpicked by Julia Gillard. How can Skills Australia be considered independent from Government, when it was established as a statutory body by Julia Gilard, under the SKills Australia Act 2008, its operating costs are paid by Govt, and its members are paid by Julia Gillard for the work they do wearing their Skills Australia hats. And to have long term Labor bedfellow and ACTU President Sharan Burrow on the thing gives the Unions an even more dangerous amount of control over the current Labor government, and its migration policy. I suspect that Pharmacists are not on the new SOL because they have been overlooked by the Government toadies who are on the board of Skills Australia, mostly. Did the APharmC make enough of a fuss in order to ensure that Pharmacists would be on the new SOL, I wonder? I wonder whether the new arrangements for Pharmacists wanting to apply for a skills assessment from 1st July 2010 has anything to do with the exclusion of this occupation from the new SOL? APC Please see the link above and check the details. Is there anything markedly different from the skills assessment that you did, please? What about the arrangements after the Pharmacist gets to Australia? Cheers Gill
Guest NoRegrets
Hi Gill Thank u so much for ur help. I have received an email from APC on 27/5/2010, here is a copy of it: Dear Mr/Ms Our records show that you have passed the Stage I Examination and were issued a skills assessment letter for migration purposes. Following a review of the skilled migration program the Government has issued a revised Skilled Occupations List (SOL) for the purposes of migrating to Australia under the skilled migration program. The occupation of Pharmacist is not on that list which means that pharmacists are not needed in Australia and the pathway for skilled migration to Australia as a pharmacist no longer applies. You should direct any enquiries to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship at www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/whats-new If you migrate to Australia by some other pathway and then wish to practise pharmacy you will need to complete the registration process to practise as a pharmacist. You will need to advise this office in writing that you wish to proceed and you will then be issued with a replacement Stage I Results letter to be provided to the Pharmacy Board of Australia (PBA) to continue the registration process. You should also visit the following website for updated information about changes to the pharmacy registration process with effect from 1 July 2010. APC: www.pharmacycouncil.org.au PBA: www.pharmacyboard.gov.au I hope this information is helpful Kind Regards
Guest NoRegrets
Im not sure how can i "migrate to Australia by some other pathway" , the exam i took was only the initial part of registeration (STAGE 1 ) I still have to do supervised training and a second exam in order to register as a pharmacist in Aus. Its really very complicated right now and the exam i've undertaken is only valid for 5 years, already 3.5 years have passed. Im not sure what to do right now except wait till 1st of July and c what happens:( Ive already lost all hope but i believe its so unfair to us after the money, enery and time spent on this process. Except demand for the documents which were already submitted, there was job verification on 03.09.09. I did not heard anything from them except these events on my application. Guest NoRegrets
Well they probably think they have an oversupply of pharmacists ? Im not really sure, it was a big surprise actually going from CSL to not on the new SOL! thats why no body was expecting Ive called DIAC once, they said wait till 1st of July and check their website regularly for updates and she told me not to expect a reply from my CO regarding the post lodgement queries Ive sent (I've sent about 3 or 4 of those with no luck).... anyway its only about 2 weeks till 1st of July I guess we can wait that much longer............. virtual_bajwa
Well, I just called my agent. He said he called DIAC and they replied that file is still under process. He said there is no implementation of Cap and cease on any application. And he also said that there is no possibility that they are going to implement Cap and Cease on any application as there will be elections in October this year. So do not expect anything to happen on Cap and CEase this year.which is very sad.

Guest Gollywobbler
Oh sorry matey... I shall try to correct this .... Hi VB I have moved Rah Rah's post. The only person who can correct the title of a thread is Site Admin. He has gone on holiday for a fortnight with his family. (Site Admin = Cerberus1= Rob.) Rob has a laptop with him and can control PiO from the laptop. However your thread has been running for some days now and tonight is the only mistake with it, plus it is such a minor mistake that I feel it would not be fair to disturb Rob just to ask him to change the thread title at the moment. Do you agree? In the meantime, every single person who is in pickle with the pre-September 2007 applications comes from a High Risk country, it seems. Most people have an IELTS score that exceeds the score required at the time. Shades of the White Australia Policy all over again, I am beginning to think.....
