I emailed DIAC asking if for non-licensed occupations, if they'll consider pre qualification experience for points. Here is their response: PRE-GRADUATION WORK EXPERIENCE If you have undertaken part-time skilled employment work while completing a course of study, you may count this towards any General Skilled Migration skilled employment requirements as long as you were employed on a paid basis for at least 20 hours per week at the skilled level. Generally, pre-graduation skilled employment experience would be at the 'semi-skilled' rather than the 'skilled' level and therefore not be acceptable. ...... My situation is that it was the other way around: I have undertaken part time schooling while working full time in my current profession. So in my case, I can safely assume that I can count the experience while in school, since my job was full time and schooling was part time?

Hi All, I just wanted to ask everyone's thoughts on the effect (if any) that the July 2012 visa application changes (EOI) will have on 175 applications that are lodged before the changes are implimented. Looking through recent posts I have seen that some 175 applications have been turned around in 8-10 months which wouldn't be a problem for us. Our only concern is that if we were to lodge a 175 application within the next month or so, and a case worker isn't assigned before the July changes, would the changes delay the processing of the application, i.e. will the new EOI system take priority as these applications could be thought of as being more attractive than an old 175 application? Any thoughts???

Hi everyone I wondered if anyone could offer some advice. We are planning on migrating over to Perth in 2012 and we have 3 children, our youngest will be 4 . At the moment in the UK she is in reception class and doing really well , what would be our options in Oz ? is they anything part time , or pre school ect ? Ideally we would like to wait until the starting year but we feel my wife may need to find work therefore we may have a childcare issue. If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated:biggrin:

Hello everyone; I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread so if anyone has a better idea as to where to ask this please let me know. Well our 457 visas are cleared and hubby has a leave date from his UK job of 23rd Oct and a start date of his new Australia based job of 3rd November. With this time frame in mind and the fact that we have a two week holiday for the first two weeks of September I am beginning to feel the pressure of the task ahead! Has anyone found or used a checklist that has helped them organise their move? I'd like to know what kind of things I need to sort here in UK before our arrival to make settling in easier. I know about opening a bank account online in UK before arriving in Australia...anything else? Thanks folks!

I know there is a KU pre school very close by to us, just wondered what these settings are like, or anyone has children at the one in west pymble or others who can let me know what they are like. Also any other experience or knowledge of any other pre schools in the area would be great Thank you Jo

Hi all, I have just got my letter from ACS regarding my skills assessment for 2231-11 and it was no good. I applied mid February. I have the work experience 6 years+ in server/network admin, but the reason for failure was unsuitable Microsoft qualifications. I have a non IT degree and was under the impression that if I had 6+ years experience in a suitable role and a MCSE then I would qualify in band B, so am a bit perplexed by the reason of failure. I completed my MCSE 2003 at the end of 2005 and had confirmation by various agents that i shoud be abe to pass with these in place. Is my MCSE too 'out of date', and what should be my next step with regards to review/appeal or should I apply under a different code? Thanks in advance for any replies, Richard

Hi, hoping for information regarding pre schools. Having researched primary schools and realising that I will have to pay school fees on a 457 visa in NSW, I am now trying to gain an understanding of the pre school system. Does anyone know if I would qualify for a government run pre school and if so, any idea of cost? Thanks in advance

Hey everyone, Does anyone know what happened to the above group? I know the offshore ones were meant to be capped and ceased. From what I remember individuals from this group were meant to contact DIMIA asap. Did they get their visas, get capped and ceased or still waiting? Thanks

Hi, I have a little boy who will be 3.5 yrs when we arrive in Brisbane in July 2011. He currently attends a nursery 5 mornings a week in the UK, which he loves. I am trying to research nurseries in Brisbane and have applied to C&K centre in Carindale, I understand these centres are very well regarded but they can only offer 5 day / fortnights and waiting lists are long  I really wanted to continue with 5 days and have come across an ABC Learning Centre that looks good via website, does anyone have any info regarding these childrens centres. Any info would be much appreciated as the clock is ticking and July is fast approaching..... Thanks lisa.x:twitcy:

Hi All, We received our pre grant letter for our 175 visa on NYE stating we have to leave australia to have it granted. We have to provide our travel dates to our CO. In the letter it states that you should leave at least 3 working days after departure from Australia before approaching the embassy to have visa's evidenced. Is it essential to have your visa evidenced whilst away or will it be stored electronically, so we can back into Oz? Can we have visa's evidenced back in Oz at a later date? We are considering going to Christchurch, where there is no embassy so could not get evidenced. Any Help much appreciated - need to book flights tonight but in a dilema of where to go & how long for! If Christchurch a no go, then considering Vanuatu - anyone been??? Many Thanks!!

Hi there Husband and i have been in Oz for 3.5 years and are now citizens. Hoorah! I have one sister(perm resident NZ) no other siblings. Mother and father remain in UK but we want to get them over here if possible as no one is left in uk. They have a few medical issues (high blood pressure.type 2 diabetes and mum had breast cancer 1.5 years ago) all managed and well otherwise. We can pay the contribution/fees etc but the medical is the concern Is there a medical pre-screen that can be done before we spend the time and effort on applying for a contrib parent visa....or does anyone have experience of parents with medical issues and how strict the medicals are? Is there any point in even applying I wonder? I hope not as we miss them but are happy here :-) Thanks

Dear Pre September 2007 applicants, I have asked DIAC to stop processing my VAC refund on the Cap n Cease bill. I request all pre September applicants who have asked for a refund to write a email and also send your request by registered post as well. This advise was rendered to me by a migration agent and also by a Accredited Migration Lawyer. So, please come together. The bill of Cap and Cease has been lapsed in the parliament. Cheers

Hi all Just read APRHA's latest statement! and its all about nurses who have a diploma/degree. I have a really sick feeling about this now. What about us nurses who did the old style training in the 90's and came out as an RGN but who have worked as qualified nurse ever since???? Do they not want us any more? Will I be able to register - was just about to Positive ANMC assessment that costs $$$ I've emailed them to find out, but wonder if anyone has any thoughts. Cheers, from a very upset and worried but STILL a qualified nurse (as far as I'm aware)

Hi Just a thought- someone might be able to help. I'm a qualified primary teacher (ages5-11) and I've got the experience in teaching Pre primary (3-5). Pre primary is on the SOL but I havent got a qualification specifically in this area so wouldn't be assessed as such. My question is - if I gained a qualification in pre primary would my current work experience count when applying for 175?? Anyone know which qualification needed? I'm thinking it may be quicker to get another qualification then apply and hopefully be cat 3 then to be cat 4!!
