Oz bank account without oz address

Hi,

 

We want to open an oz bank account from the UK but are unsure what happens when we arrive in Sydney as we will not have a permanent address until we arrive in Perth 3 months later. Anyone had similar problem?

You just use your UK address until you move, then go and talk to the bank about what to do. I think once they have verified your ID with passport etc. they will let you withdraw money even if you don't have a permanent address. I think this is how it works, but perhaps someone else will have a different idea.

You are right you only need you passport you dont need a permanent address

We opened an Oz bank account with Westpac whilst in UK, called into the bank when we got here and activiated it. Most of the banking is via internet, and we just asked for any cheque books etc., to be held at the branch until we had an address - very helpful staff and no problems.
