Short let required north of river

Happy new year to you all!

Had two early Christmas presents - 175 granted 16th Dec, house sold 18th so planning the big move now.

Provisionally looking to arrive in Perth somewhere around 15th - 25th March and looking for names of estate agents etc that specialise in short lets (about three weeks) until we find suitable longer term rental.

Minimum would be two bed as we have a two year old daughter.

What sort of paperwork would be required? Is it worth asking my bank (mortgage lender) for a reference to say that there have been no problems with the account?

Really looking forward to the new opportunities that 2010 will bring us!

Hi,

Try holiday lettings website we used them twice, first for validation trip [ 2 weeks in Padbury] then when we moved over in September [ 6 week let in Mindarie ] . All booked over the internet no paper work needed and they have a large choice of accommodation my advice would be to ensure it has internet access so useful when looking for rentals, applying for tax file numbers ect;

When it comes to rentals I would ask your EA for a letter stating that the house was kept in good order and clean, also a copy of your house details, bank statements to prove you have adequate funds, you should have several copies of all these as you have to submit all this paper work with the application of every rental you go for. We applied for 3 rentals before securing our present house and we were told that we had a very good application.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if i can be of any further help

The Perth Gumtree website is good, it breaks the accommodation down into different types like short term, etc:

Perth Gumtree

You'll find that there is a shortage of properties through rental agencies that are completely self contained (fully furnished) and/or do leases shorter than 6 months, so sites like Gumtree are good because they cater for the fully furnished/short term market.

Paperwork required very much depends on whether you go through a RE agent (property manager) or a private landlord. As private landlords, my hubs and I tend to look for basic ID info (passport number, driver's license number) plus evidence that the rent can be paid. This can mean a bank account statement showing a healthy balance, or details of your Aussie employer - it varies from situation to situation, as we deal with both travellers and people who are moving to Australia.

Good luck, I hope you find something suitable! :wubclub:
