Has anyone applied to Vetassess for the Personnel Officer occupation under thier CIPD Post Grad Qualifications? I was looking at doing it but was advised that even though they are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority as a Level 7 Post Grad qualification, therefore higher than a bachelor degree, it would not be considered as equivalent to an australian bachelors degree...................I was somewhat surprised by this so wondered whether anyone had tried it....... :arghh:

I am busy going through the process for my Visa, my trade been checked to see I meet the requirements and accepted. Next step is to apply for a VISA - one of the requirements is MIlitary Clearance from the South African Defence Force. I suspect the Oz Immgration people want to see that I have actually completed my Military Service - we had no choice:rolleyes: Back in in those day South Africa had 2 Year National Services when we left school I have called the authorities in SA to get this Clearance Certificate an was told it would take up to 7 months to get this Certicate which is going to delay my application process with the Oz Immagration folk. MY question is: has anyone else had this issue and if yes how did you proceed e.g did you get the Certificate? How long did it take? If no - what evidence did you supply to the Oz Immration Authorities that your National Serviuce was completed? I have my Military Force number etc but I am not sure if that would be acceptable. Any help would be most appreciated

Hi Everyone I work for a bingo company who runs bingo in the UK but we are looking for Bingo Chat Hosts locally here in QLD. You can spend most of the time working from home - you just need a PC and a very good connection. But we need people to be able to pop into our Brisbane office from time-to-time for training. We're looking for people who love bingo, who love to have a bit of fun, and who are computer savvy. Previous experience as a Bingo Chat Host is not mandatory, but will be considered favourably. There's a few roles going and we do offer training so don't worry if you haven't done it before. Just contact me through this pomsinoz site if you're interested. Regards Chris

I moved to Sydney nearly three years ago, and now live with my family here on the Northern beaches.I know first hand how difficult it is to get a start here in OZ, so it would be great to help one of you guys out! I work for a family run company, who have been into pipeline relining, cctv and jetting for many years, throughout the Sydney area.My boss has asked me to find a POM who needs a job.You will need to have a clean driving licence, and be physically fit (due to plenty of shovel work/holes to dig).Experience in drainage is not essential, but obviously desirable. We are more interested in someone that intends to make Sydney their home long term, and looking to start the right person quickly. If however, you are sitting in the UK awaiting a visa grant, and do have experience in pipe relining, jetting, cctv survey work; it maybe still worthwhile in sending me your CV, as we are expanding/moving pretty fast.

We have been awarded a 475 regional provisional visa sponsored by Western Australia. Due to lack of job offers etc we have not been able to emigrate and our visa expires in July 2010 if it's not activated. Can we go over for a holiday just to activate it and return home after a couple of weeks? Will it remain active for the three years it's supposed whilst we're in the UK, for us to return to Oz when possible? Is it possible to change visa categories without starting the whole process again? Our circumstances have changed and I think we would qualify for an independent migrant (subclass 175) visa. Thanks dazarooni

Right... along with 1) finding a place to live (schools, commutable, affordable... blah blah) 2) sussing out what work would be like for the missus (a pharmacist if anyone has a job for her!) 3) is working out the requirements for the 457 application... It says I need to provide proof that I have health insurance. I thought I could be eligible and could enrol on Medicare being from the UK but seems like I may not be plus I can't enrol until I have landed. Now I think my options are: 1) take out cover here in uk for travel insurance? (that covers the requirements for the 457 - painful? would need ot find out what minimum cover is required....) 2) take out some private healthcare from a company in aus. some links that might be useful MBF: Overseas visitors health insurance options for Australia HBF: Overseas Visitors | Health Insurance Cover for Overseas Visitors | HBF Medibank Private: Overseas Visitors Insurance & Visitors Cover - Medibank Private HCF: Private health insurance from HCF health cover fund HBA: Travel, Work, Study Health Insurance for Overseas Visitors to Australian - HBA Health Insuranc Now.... I need to attach proof to the application (along with all the other documents!) some have a waiting period eg medibank which is $210 per month for family of 4 on the basic cover. This period can be 2 moths to 6 months depending, this is only for the period by which you can start claiming for treatment and not the time I have to wait for cover? How have others gone about attaching proof of cover? If I have to wait for them to process my application before submitting my visa app it might delay things! Any advice appreciated!

Plus , are there childminders out there for my 2 year old or does everyone use day care - any suggestions for this?? Final Question- Anyone know of a very good gymnastics coach/ academy for my 5 year old. Thank you in advance for all your help

Hi, I am hopefully on the way to gaining my PR and now my thoughts are turning to getting a job when I arrive in Australia. FOr some time I have been considering retraining to become a teacher, probably of young children, and I was wondering if anyone knows what qualifications I would need to gain to do this in Australia? Im happy to go back to Uni, I already have a BSc and MSc, do these count towards a conversion course or whether I would need to start from scratch? Any info about this or experience would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Hi guys, Asked my Migration co-ordinator about sorting out a medical for my 457 application and he said "we should not be required to undergo health testing in relation to this application". Has anyone else come across this as from what I've been checking everyone has to have a medical? Regards, S

Hello, Its just a hypothetical question but its nice to know all of the options... Obviously I have to have the required funds for SA on a 176 visa before I land but what if I was offered employment in Adelaide and had to go earlier? Would this make my visa void as you have to report to SA immigration within a couple of weeks of landing. I was going to wait to apply for jobs once I got there but the urge to go earlier eats away at you. Thanks.
