Hi, I'm moving to Australia in January. - I really enjoy playing at Irish music sessions and was just wondering if anyone knew of any in Sydney... preferably in the Bankstown area.

Thanks a lot

There are traditional Irish music sessions at:

*Kelly's pub in Newtown on Tuesday nights

*The Gaelic Club in Surry Hills on Thursday nights

*Durty Nelly's Bar in Paddington on Sunday afternoons

*The Harp Hotel in Tempe on Sunday nights

The Irish National Association School of Irish Music holds trad music lessons throughout the week at the Gaelic Club, if you want to take up a new instrument.

Go to www.irishcommunitynsw.org.au for information about Irish community groups and events in New South Wales.

There's also Irish sessions at the Mean Fiddler, Rouse Hill and the Cricketers Arms, Prospect. Not sure of times - used to be regular each Sunday evening at the Mean Fiddler but they've cut back. Ring and harrass the entertainment manager to bring it back on a regular basis.

A lovely friendly group, fabulous music and anyone can join in (oh, and Guiness on tap)
