Right , just wondered why you changed thats all , didn't know you could... All the best with it!

sorry i understand your question now. If you are on a 175 you can go anywere in oz & on a 176 you have to stay in that state for two years ( sorry if you know that already) well are agent sent us a text to say if we were prepared to go anywere as long as my trade was wanted. It so happened that perth wanted me & we had always planned to go there. You have to fill out a small form give reasons why you want to live there plus show you have done your homework on WA ie show websites ect. It is very straight forward but you only have a few days left to apply.

No we are at the very end (police & meds done) we were in the same position at the begining as you. My wifes brother had to sponser us as lack of points a well. we were surprised when they let us go to a 176 and they did not ask us to make up points lucky i suppose. Because of my job (Dental technician) It is still open to were we will settle in perth it depends on place of work or if no job comes up I will set up my lab again in perth as I will be taking all my equipment with me.

Hi

Can anyone give us some advise about the 175 VISA? How do we go about applying and how long does it take, cost etc etc...

My husband is an IT specialist and we thinking of going with the 175 in case we dont get any sponsorship. I know we need 120 points for the visa and when i did the online check now it came to 140 points so we ok there.

Thank you

Excellent thanks for that! we applied a week ago, but we have been really confused about 175 and 176 time scale. If what you say is correct that the cut off date is 13th feb, then it would make perfect sense. once 176 applications upto 13th feb habe been dealt with then 175 will begin to get c/o.........is that right?

Apologies if I am I on a different wave length here? but I had an email from my agent stating visa priority and processing has now changed.

State and employment sponsored visas and jobs on the critical list get priority processing now and all others will not be processed until all the above have been, therefore others can take yonks, we are on 175 and meds just done and about to be sent but not sure now if to get a sponsor as was hoping to go this year. anyone else in this situation or do i need a new thread?

There is no "cut off" date. ASPC said that all applications where they have received notification of state sponsorship will/should be allocated a case officer by 13th Feb. After that all new applications will get a case officer within 10 days of DIAC receiving confirmation of a valid state sponsorhip from the sponsoring state. They are now also looking at CSL applications lodged before SEP07 but will continue to deal with state sponsored applications too. All others are on hold at present and it looks like they will move onto a later batch after 20th March.

Hi heidi

All I know is they will not even look at 175's till 1st July, then they're going to re-assess what they're doing?

That's my simpleton take on it for now!

We're still applying for a 175 which needs to be lodged before my OH's 35th b'day for the points. We've just had positive skill assessment from ACS.

So wait and wait is what we all do!!!

All the best

we had enitualy went with a 175 but we advised that it could take months if not a year or more to get looked at so we changed to a 176 with no extra cost. The only thing is you have stay & work in the state you applyed for (two years). As we already wanted Perth it was no problem to us & my skill is on there list.

Hi heidi

175 is 'normal' except they have ceased to process them for the time being while they deal with a different priority list. So 175 will take longer than usual. They make another decision about 175's on 1st July (I think):goofy:

We're all mental.

Who is the best and CHEAPEST agency to use?. Maybe its worth getting it on the go now. I reckon waiting is a good thing as it gives us time to sell up and re-organise our lives, pay debts and sort kids etc.

I suppose if we have a sponsor that would be better but as i understand you have to have applied for a 176 by 13th Feb?....

Ok so once we have the visas and meds and every other bits of paper work needed.........comes the actual move itself. Would you recommend selling everything and only packing a small container with just the personal items like photos computers etc. Or is it better to take a large container and pack it with everything.

Hi heidi

LOL not desperate to go or anything are you?? LOL

Definitely start now!

If you need an IT assessment then use PTLabs. No messing, 100% pass rate and will tell you if you have a chance of a visa.

Once you have your skill assessment then any registered MARA agent can do the job and it's a case of shopping around and going on recommendations. We're using PTLabs for the whole thing becuse there are a few troublesome bits for us and we wanted to apply once, properly and with no mistakes!

I agree about the wait, frustrating but necessary to get life completely sorted for the off. I'd rather be sitting waiting for the visa than sitting with the visa waiting for the house to sell, but, best laid plans and all that!!

Don't really know much about the 176, but if you need a positive skill assessment that takes time too.

We're going ahead with our plans, not in a mad rush and will get there when it's hopefully the right time for us.

I reckon sort the shipping when you know nearer the time, but start chucking and selling now and not buying anything big unless you really need it.

Welcome to the madness of the 'waiting room'!
