Covering Letter with C.V?

Hi All,

Hubby is just finishing getting his C.V. up to Australian standard, but we dont know what to put in the covering letter. Worried as looking at other threads people are saying once they see you are still in UK they dont look any further.

Our only hope is 457 visa, our plan was to send as many C.V.'s off with covering letter and in March we are going to Melbourne for holiday, we were hoping maybe a potential employer may see hubby while we are out there and kill two birds with one stone so to speak, at least that way they have at least seen him.

So what do we put in the covering letter to get someone to even consider just meeting him in March? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Always do a covering letter, it doesn't have to be long, use it to emphasise skills that are applicable, this is one I wrote for my OH when he went for a job as a diesel fitter (he got the job). All I've done is say what skills he has directly relevent and those that are transferable:

Dear Sir/ Madam

I am writing to express interest in the position of Mining Equipment

Maintainer. I have a current MINE NAME induction having undertaken

numerous planned maintenance tasks including engine/alternator installation,

engine overhaul, tune up and diagnostic troubleshooting on Terex MT4400

rear dump trucks. Additionally I have also undertaken troubleshooting and

repair on service vehicles and Franna crane applications utilising Allison

electronic transmissions and Mercedes-Benz OM906 engines on site.

I also have experience with other mining heavy mobile equipment on other

sites, including Hitachi EH4500, Komatsu 830E, Terex MT3300 rear dump

trucks, Hitachi EX3600 excavators and LeTourneau electric drive loaders.

If you would like any more details about my experience please do not hesitate

to contact me. I attach my CV and look forward to hearing from you

Best regards
