Congratulations !!! Cath! You are not far form the PR.

I am still playing the waiting game. anyway I have some question on the VIC sponsorship.

I have been issued with an reference number from VIC, should I lodge the 886 application to DIAC before I get approval from the state sponsorship?

But my concern is that in case that I will potentially waste the application fee if my state sponsorship application from VIC is unsuccessful.

Hi, the number is the same but I would wait to hear back from them before submitting your application. In the time being, why don't you start filling in the online application to have that ready and scan all your documents. Hang in there, you'll hear back from them soon.

Congrat! I wonder what specialization are you in. I'm in IT field but the specialisation was removed in the new revised list. I applied for Victoria state sponsorship on 26th Dec and received acknowledgement on 13-Jan. When did you received the acknowledgement, btw?

Fingers crossed! Thanks.

Hi, I'm a pastry cook. If you applied on 26th Dec I think you should be hearing back from them this week. I got my acknowledgment on 12th Jan. Hang in there, any day now you'll get it.

just had an email acknowledgment to our Agent for receipt of the emailed application but they couln't see the attachments that were enclosed! It's almost certainly going to be a no if they are continuing to decline those with too many points though. Wonder why they don't put this on their new website!

Hi Julie

Stay calm. VIC seem to have stopped declining people with too many points.

They are behaving oddly in other ways to judge from an e-mail I've had today but the points issue seems to have calmed down, which is a start.

Cheers

Thanks for this, will be an interesting time then. Still not pinning much hope on it though... At least they finally acknowledged us in some way.

I have the experience though. My vic sponsor application was closed by them as I filled 120 as the DIAC passmark in the application. In fact I am applying onshore 886, how can they then advise me I can actually apply 175 because of sufficient point? that's nonsense! I then explain I have 110 from email reply, they respond me 3+ weeks after and reopen my case. I applied my one on 7.1.2009 though.

Anyone recently being granted the vic sponsorship? Are you below or above 120 points?

Dear Applicant

Thank you for your application for the Skilled - Sponsored (Residence) (subclass 886) Program.

On 29 January 2009 the Victorian Government was informed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) that a number of organisations are under investigation by DIAC in relation to work references and education certificates.

As a consequence, until DIAC's investigation is finalised, the Victorian Skilled and Business Migration Program has suspended the processing of all applications for the Skilled - Sponsored (Residence) (subclass 886) Program for ASCO 4 occupations.

In the meantime, you may wish to visit the Department of Immigration's website (www.immi.gov.au) to consider the full range of alternative visa pathways.

Kind regards,

Anybody applied VIC state sponsorship under ASCO 4 occupations?

OgaPoga,

I think the length of time taken may be dependant on the occupation of the main applicant. We applied for sponsorship for my wife as a Primary Teacher and it took approximately 8 weeks. We seemed to have to jump through hoops and research all sorts of locations. We were told it could take up to 12 weeks but it was definately shorter.

Good luck

Hello lavinanov

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

I am shocked by your news, frankly.

VIC made a sponsorship offer to our member Cath 76 a fortnight ago. She is a Pastry Chef, which is a Group 4 occupation, and she did her training in Melbourne. VIC have offered to sponsor her for a subclass 886 visa:

Please see Cath's posts on Page 6 of this thread:

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/48985-victoria-state-sponsorship-how-long-6.html

How can VIC tell you what they have told you when they know full well that they ARE approving Group 4 sponsorship applications?

What is your own occupation, please?

Also the investigation they are describing was in the Press at the time:

Businesses raided over migration fraud - Topic Powered by Eve For Enterprise

However they cannot possibly justify making assumptions that it is right to treat VIC-trained people with suspicion in my view.

Are you from a high risk country? I wonder whether that has anything to do with it?

Best wishes

Gill

Hi Ausunnyboy

I agree with you. I think the VIC Migration office must be in meltdown - they seem to me to be acting irrationally and inconsistently.

I know that Alan Collett of Go Matilda is already keeping a very close eye on VIC.

Over the course of this weekend a friend of mine has instructed George Lombard in connection with a refusal from VIC for 176 sponsorship. So if George was not involved before, he is now.

My friend has an assessment from ACS for 2231-79 Network Security as far as I can gather. (I haven't a clue about IT skills.) It was on the old VIC List for the 176 visa but not the new one. However he applied WELL before VIC changed the List. At the time VIC said they wanted Network Security people.

They refused his application late last week. They said:

We consult with industry to determine which occupation are currently "in demand" in Victoria, and seek advice to determine whether individual applicants would be "employable" or not for the current Victorian labour market. We do this because we need to ensure our sponsored migrants have the skills and specialisations on our "Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List" which are in shortage in the current market, and to ensure that skilled migrants have a realistic chance of employment when they arrive in Victoria.

In this case, our advice indicated that your skills and experience did not match the current industry requirements . This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, taking into account the current needs within Victoria’s regions and industries.

In other words, having said that they would honour their old List they are now saying that the skills on the old List are no longer needed today so bye bye. Which is not honouring their old List at all.

If VIC do not pull themselves together, people will start boycotting VIC as a State to consider moving to and applying to. They will apply to other States - the ones which keep their word, do not mess people around and who act consistently. There are 7 other States and Territories to choose from so I would suggest to VIC that they wake up in a hurry if they would like to keep attracting applications from the best and most promising applicants.

Best wishes

Gill

Hello Gill,

Thanks for your response. I don't think I am the only one who got this e-mail...Please see the linkage below:

just received this mail from Victorian GOV, what the hell is this please help : British Expat Discussion Forum

I guess....the people who submit the application after 1/1/2009 got the same e-mail on 27/2/2009....

My occupation is Hairdresser. I am from the country which are assessed as level 2 in vocational education. It's not fair at all to suspended all applications of ASCO 4 applicants. Either VIC are waiting for the investigation or they want to use this excuse to filter international students to stop them applying PR straight away after study.

Thanks God that I passed each band 7.0 in my IELTS test so I am qualified for 885 independent visa. I will go ahead for 885 instead. Who knows how long they are going to suspend all the applications? Maybe 6 months, 12 months? However, international students are only eligible to apply 886 state sponsorship visa within 6 months after their course completion.....

Good luck to everybody under ASCO 4 occupation!

Hi Cath ,

As far as I know, you are applying 886 onshore, Just wonder if you submitted a paper application to ASPC or online to BSPC?

Coz I noticed that the co allocation for 886 state sposor progress much faster in ASPC than that in BSPC. (co is allocated 10 days after sumission in ASPC, but applications are received up to 15 Sep 2008 in BSPC as per the weekly progress update as at 3 March 09).

I applied vic state sponsorship on 6th Jan 09, but now still waiting for the outcome. Just consider which assessment centre is better. Can anyone give me some advise?

Hi Ausunnyboy,

Indeed I am onshore and applied online. My acknowledgment letter stated the following...

Please note that the processing location for General Skilled Migration visa applications has changed. If you lodged your application for one of the following subclasses online, your application will be processed at the Brisbane Skilled Processing Centre.

Skilled - Independent (subclass 885)

Skilled - Sponsored (subclass 886)

Skilled - Regional (subclass 887)

Skilled - Graduate (subclass 485)

Skilled - Regional Sponsored (subclass 487)

All other applications will continue to be processed at the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre.

Yes I know that COs seem to be allocated quickly from ASPC but remember that onshore visas are processed quicker than offshore so I am positive the wait won't be too long.

I wouldn't want to lodge a paper application, it would drive me mad not being able to track what is happening.

Will keep you updated on any developments.

Cath

Hi OgaPoga,

I applied for onshore 886 vic sponsorship on mechanical engineering

Following is the timeline:

06/01/2009 Submission of emailed skilled sponsor application to vic gov.

03/02/2009 Acknowledgment

05/02/2009 skill assessment statement sent

05/02/2009 My application was closed and Vic gov emailed to advise me to apply directly for 175.

05/02/2009 inquire vic gov the reason of closure of my case via

email, stating that I have 110 DIAC points, and that is reason I applied for skilled sponsorship.

27/02/2009 I was explained by vic gov that the email was sent to me

because I had indicated that I met the 120 point pass mark.

04/03/2009 vic gov called my australian employer.

Now still playing the waiting game.

  • Does any one know their assessing procedure?
  • How long will the outcome be ready after the employer check?
  • Should I called Vic Gov again regarding the progress update? ( I have made so many calls to them, but they every time they just ask me to be patient.)

Has anyone heard back recently from Victoria regarding the state sponsorship?

I have 135 points when I applied for 175. I have also received acknowledgement from Victorian Government saying that my application will be processed and reviewed....I assume they will not close my file, if they want they would have done so am I right?

Now the wait begins....can't believe it's been only 11 days

WOLALALA....this morning we got our Victoria State Sponsorship!!!! Finally!!!!!! We are sooooooo happy.

- 17/03/2009 Victoria approved State Sponsorship

We are over the moon :)

Thanks Cath!

I have just submitted the 886 application and uploaded the document. I have some questions though.

- It requests me the proof of name change. I just stated that I have a nick name in the application. but why do then need the proof of name change?

- did youaware the processing in BSPC is only up to 2th Oct 2008. Shouldn't they process all the 886 state sponsor before focusing on CSL? I am puzzled.

- do we need to uplodad the scanned signed from 80 and Australia Value Statement?

Cheers
