Hi,

Well we are hopefully moving out to Perth this year but it all depends on how long the visa takes. I am so excited about the whole thing and want to get out there now as I have had enough of the UK.

We were out in Perth in 2002 and fell in love with it but obviously living there and travelling there are 2 completely different things and I was wondering if I could pick your brains on a couple of things.

Would anyone have any suggestions as to where to live in Perth, I would love to be near the beach. We are a married couple, both under 30 (no kids yet) and still do like to out socialising, go to the cinema and go out and about so don't want anywhere that is too quiet.

We would be looking to rent to start with and then might like to buy - is it easy to find accomodation to rent before you go out or are you staying in hostels, hotels while finding a house.

Any hints gratefully received.

If you want to be close to the sea and also have the chances of going out then the northern suburbs would be a great choice for you like butler, mindarie, clarkson kinross and joondalup and theres a few others.

i would be abit bi-est on it tho coz when i was out there i only lived N/O/R but i worked south and its not a bad place but i would say it gets dearer in price the further you go down there unless you go right out to the stick sort of areas.

if your driving then anywhere is good over there the times you will have over there will be great believe me.

If you wanna know anything bout the place feel free to email me hun on

Hi. We are Lisa 43, Neil 40, Ellie 6yr old cat. Received permanent residency STNI visa recently. Hope to arrive permanently later this year to Rockingham area or Wanneroo (still unsure where we prefer). Im a nurse and Neil is a custody officer. Oh, and he said I must mention he is a Manchester City fan. Hope to make new friends when we arrive and look forward to any meet-ups that are arranged.

Coming over Feb 8th and watching the Busselton Jetty Swim. If anyone is planning on being in that area that day let me know.

Hi

Wanneroo is next to Mullalloo which has a fantastic beach but properties we could never afford. Wanneroo is next door with established homes with big gardens and close to beach. Other half loves Joondalup which is down the road. Rockingham although south of Perth is established and has a good beach and is $100,000 cheaper. If you know anywhere else you could recommend feel free, nothing is ruled out just yet.

We live in kallaroo one burb down from Mullaoo .Wanneroo is about 6 kms further in about 3 burbs in over the wanneroo road . We`ve decided to go up to Brighton still near the pond but cheaper and a drive to work but used to it now New water system up there where your garden water etc comes from ground water can`t use it to drink or cook or owt but save a few bob on the bill. All down to preference prices etc where we have put our hat down Brighton blocks 580 sqm 200 + , Jindalee just over the marmion start at $370 for smaller blocks because its the ocean side of the marmion avenur

ps Joondalup is up the road :biglaugh:

Hello to all of you:notworthy:

What a amazing thread, have read all of the posts and cant belive how a group of people who have in some cases never met each other be arranging meet ups around the other side of the world!! I think its amazing!!!:notworthy:

I (mark) am 29, my wife amanda 27, Emily 8 and Phoebe 4 are all heading out on what can only be said as the most exciting / scariest / nerveracking move of our lives.

We have finally sold our house!! Good luck to the rest of you.

Any advice, knowledge or tips would be so helpfull even though we have done sooooo much investigation into the whole move.

Also would love to do the meet ups as its a really good way to meet new people and hopefully friends who are going through the same dream as us. We are a young(ish) family so please go easy on us LOL. Might only be the "south" meets to start with but once settled and daring enough would love to do them all with our new friends.

All the best to everyone and good luck!!

Hi All - I've just found this site and must admit feel very scared and worried hearing some of the stories on how long & complicated the visa process seems to be!! My husband and I have just applied via an agent and obviously didn't do enough research to begin with as thought it would be a doddle til' I read this!! Having said that, am glad to see how much support everyone is offering and sounds like we will need it! Thanks for the heads up! Julie (34) and Simon (42) hoping to move from Essex to Perth ASAP!

hi from oz everyone, we have been here for nearly four weeks now and i love it. we are still trying to find a house but only been looking for 10 days as we had a 2 week holiday in sydney. yes it is a bit daunting trying to get a house as renting is a bit different to the uk everyone goes at the same time and you then put an application in for it then the owner decides who gets it. if you can bring mortgage statements, bank. statements, references etc as these will all help you. driving here is a piece of cake ive seen rush hour? in perth they should see it over there. if you get stuck just ask the locals for help and they actually help you. if we can be any help just let us know and if we can help we will. good luck:jiggy:

Hi again,

Im loving this thread. I never realised just how many people are going to W.A. It certainly doesnt feel like we will be loney or on our own at all. Being new to this website I was wondering how the meeting up events will be arranged. Also, for those people who have not left the Uk yet, is there a possibility of a get together before leaving. If only to share stories, worries, laugh at the odd thngs we will miss. And of course, to establish who supports what football team so as to determine get togethers in WA to watch matches etc.

I do believe Ive found something in this website that is more interesting than shopping. lisa

Shhhhh Lisa, we don't want the men folk to know that!!! lol

How do folks who are coming over, or already here feel about a meet up / bbq for the 1st March? I'm thinking possibly Kings Park, easy to reach for NOR and SOR and places for the children to play. We could go to the Lottery Play area, lots of shade under the tress and we can use the bbqs there.

Any takers?
