Hello,

My partner is a site manager working for a house builder in the UK with an NVQ level 6 in construction management. In the UK this is equivalent to a Bachelors degree, but Australia don’t seem to recognise this qualification and VETASSESS have told him this wouldn’t be enough to pass the skills assessment. We are trying to find a way he can convert his NVQ to an Australian qualification for a skills assessment and also so he can get a supervisor license once we get over to Oz. Everyone he has spoken to has sent him to state gov websites for overseas qualification recognition, but this is for Australian residents only so not helpful for us

Does anyone know where we can do this from the UK? We seem to be going round in circles at the minute!!

Thank you!

Unfortunately when it comes to construction licences uk qualifications don’t count.
in nsw they are supplied by service nsw

https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-qualified-supervisor-certificate

Also construction here is very different to uk.

He would need to do a course through Taffe in order to get required documentation.

“In order to be considered as a Construction Project Manager, the position must be involved with construction projects and in a position of authority to determine and direct the procurement of the construction projects. The position should involve establishing and monitoring the construction schedule, determining the human resources required, determine construction methodology to be adopted, have input relating to tendering, manage liaison with key stakeholders such as clients / consultants / authorities. They are also expected to execute the progress reports and evaluate the risks of budget deviation and time delays and determine the course of action required to mitigate these risks. In terms of reporting line, they are expected to be involved in construction supervision overseeing a team of site managers, project engineers, site foremen, tradespersons, and consultants.“
