457 to tourist

Immigration is likely to look at you a little oddly if you turn around and apply for a tourist visa having just lived in Aus for some time. They might suspect that you have an ulterior motive and want to stay. If you want to stay in Australia for the longer term, your best bet is to go home then, if you are eligible, apply for a permanent visa if you are unable to find another 457 sponsor within the 60 days

My 457 is ending due to redundancy, what's the best options to stay? Is it to move to a tourist visa? If so us it better to apply offshore for cost ? Maybe apply from NZ ?

If your 457 is still valid, it would best to transfer your 457 to a new sponsor and employer.

A holiday visa after a 457 will be difficult to justify.

I agree, your priority should be to find another job if you possibly can.  Otherwise you'll probably have to go home.
