Agree with Ali. Check their online shopping so you can get an idea of prices grocery wise. Keep in mind that better deals for fruit, veg and meat can often be found a grocers and butchers.

In terms of other costs, if you will be paying electric, gas etc it will depend on you and how much you use. TBH 300-450 a week sounds a lot for a rental (and checking Geelong area prices also) for a person living on their own. Unless you are planning to rent a 3 bed house or something. Have you checked realestate.com.au to see what sort of prices for units/apartments etc and houses?

Will you be needing a car? I find fuel much cheaper here but there is still the rego and insurance to pay. Plus cars tend to be a bit pricer to buy and second hand cars its always worth getting the RAA man out to check it over to ensure its roadworthy.

I've done my take home calculation and i should take home around 7k per month
Should this be enough for a single man to live on in Geelong?

I should coco!

I take home about 7.5k a month and have a wife, 2 kids, a dog and a mortgage!

Unless you have some really expensive habits, you will be fine.
