sualg
Hi All, Is it worth taking Credit Card statements to Auz from the UK to show to my bank (NAB) to help with applying for a Credit Card when I arrive. If so how many months should I take? Kind Regards Luke
Guest
I'm not aware your credit rating from another country has any bearing or carries any weight on your Aus credit rating.
Collie
It won't make a difference. Have you a job to come to? Credit card applications are based on your ability to repay (& credit rating). So as long as you have a payslip (or contract showing salary) you should be ok. Payslips from your UK employer would be more useful.
Rossmoyne
It will make no difference. Your credit rating from another country means absolutely nothing in Australia. You will have to prove that you have ongoing paid employment in Australia and that you pay rent or mortgage regularly. Payslips from UK mean nothing in Australia. Ken
They're not going to give you a credit until you can show you have some income, but one bit of good news for you is that you already have an excellent credit rating in Australia. What they look at is payments that you've missed or paid late in your past. You've never missed a payment on an Australian credit card/loan/utility bill/rental agreement or anything else Australian have you? How could you, you've never had one. A clean sheet is excellent. You won't have any trouble getting credit once you have a payslip (and 100 points of I.D. - but that's another story). The one thing all new arrivals seem to struggle with is getting a mobile phone contract. They all want some genuine (Australian) history - but pay as you go Sims are easy to get. calNgary
It wont make any difference finance wise but it wouldnt do any harm to bring a couple of recent ones and submitt them with your rental applications to show you always paid back on time etc Cal x
friedparsley
Don't you have all your statements online? Then you can call them up to view, show or print anytime.
vickyplum
I applied for a credit card with CBA - no problem. I think this was after a few months of working, therefore having regular payments going in bank a/c. No evidence from UK was required.
