I agree, but it would be an election suicide. They would have to back door it. Didn't they do that with student university fees?

Don't they do it with most things no one likes?

Australia doesn't seem to be suffering any of the same issues as the NHS I've found the system far superior out here, I had a 14 week wait for a Physio appointment on the NHS and have heard much worse horror stories, Oz system any day for me.

I worked in health both in the UK and Aus and agree the Australian system is better. Incentivising higher earners to take out private health insurance brings in extra funds. I needed physio and went privately with my fund paying about half the cost. I waited 2 days for an appointment. Sure it results in a two tier system but making it easy for people who can to pay for better service results in more funds and a better system overall.

Well as soon as they do anything about payment for treatment then the NHS is gone for ever, which is exactly what the Tories want and it will be like the railways and the further education sector where the custome needsr are an irrelevance, my wife's course was shut down from the end of this year because it's too specialised and doesn't show a big enough return even tho supposedly there is going to be a big push on mental health treatment, the course is producing trained counsellors in a one year of intensive study, the university has substantial cash reserves, the universities are all about money now.

And how quickly does the insurance cover for that run out, I needed long term physio after a knee replacement, I think I got PART payment for 8 sessions and then .25 payment for 4 weeks whilst those on the public system got up to 3 months of group therapy which is the most cost effective way of doing it.

Has anyone noticed that where english is the lingua franca then the Americans are in there pushing there loathsome free market profit driven version of running economies and elsewhere they continue on with systems that work and have been successful for years.

I think the Australian health care system is way better than their rail service. Everyone needs health care not everyone needs trains, the wealthy can drive. Customer care is better when your customers are wealthy, educated and demanding.

Businesses usually are though.

From that I assume that you approve of making everything a business transaction based around profit with a surface gloss of giving the customer some semblance of service based around ability to pay.

It's the future man ?

Remember we all get old and usually poorer.

In the last year my pension fund has increased by 30%. Thank goodness for brexit.

I don't think much of the Tories but they are very effective at taking money from the bottom half and giving it to the top half. You just need to make sure you are in the right half.

I've never understood why poor people vote Tory. But then I vote lib Dems usually, maybe labour this year. Maybe it's not all about money.

I don't understand half of what you post, you like newjez's post which seems to go against your attitude of pure self interest,  so I just fail to understand where you stand politically which is why I never really understood Australia and its lack of altruism for anything beyond their immediate circle.

To quote that advert on telly 'that's the way I like it'.?
