Endtroducing
Hi, Apologies if this is in the wrong thread. I've lived in Australia for 2 years and I am currently an in-patient in hospital. As I have been off work for a few months I have concerns about my continued employment and whether my employer will wish to continue to employ me. If I was to lose my job, could my general skilled migration visa be revoked?
cheese n pickle
HI, No I don't think it will be revoked. The 175 visa is a permanent residence visa and you're not tied to any employer or state.
calNgary
No a 175 is not an employer sponsored visa, so even if you were to lose your job it wouldnt affect your visa. Does your boss know your in hospital ? if so and you provide a med cert you shouldn't be fired. Cal x
Quinkla
if so and you provide a med cert you shouldn't be fired. I am not an expert on the Australian law on this, but I think it does allow an employer to terminate an employee on health grounds if there is no realistic prospect of recovery to allow the employee to resume normal duties within the foreseeable future. calNgary
You could be right there, especially if they are physically unable to go back to that job. Regardless though, i am pretty sure it won't affect their visa status on this visa buy something worth thinking about is if they have no income and are not yet entitled to Centrelink help, that could cause problems.
