fifi69
Should say...I don't know anything about schools in Perth so sorry can't help. I do think though, and I don't live in Rockingham but visit a lot, that Rockingham seems to be upping its game. a lot of redevelopment going on in the area....changes to the foreshore, mangles bay development (not yet, given the green light). some may say moving there before all the proposed changes, could make you a financial winner?? funny thing is a lot of the locals don't want these changes....they see the place as a hidden gem, and because it has in the past had not a great rep, its not overcrowded. I personally think it has some great things, love the beach there. The surrounding areas also has some great hidden gems. Park yourself at the beach overlooking penguin island and you could think yourself on a remote beach on a deserted island.

Bob1
The my school web site has the results of the NAPLAN results- like SATS. http://www.myschool.com.au/ If you put in a suburb all the schools will come up. Go to NAPLAN on the left and 'results in numbers'. If it is red then the schools results are below the national average. Rockingham Beach is red/ dark red which isn't great. The high school isn't great, very poor results. A bogan is someone rough - google Rockingham and bogan and all will be relieved.

Glasto
I haven't been on this forum since I emigrated here in Feb 13, but I logged on today and spotted this so re registered to answer you. We moved to Rocky as it was near the beach but affordable, and have to say it's the best move we could have made. We love it here! Yes there are bogans, but there are lots of lovely people too. We are moving house this weekend ( to another house in Rockingham)and have so many people volunteering to help us out with the move, all friends we have made since moving here, poms, Aussies and kiwis. The beaches are just gorgeous, we feel like we are living in paradise. As for the schools, my son went to Safety Bay primary which he loved, and now goes to Rockingham Senior High where he is thriving. Yes it had a terrible reputation a few years ago, but the teachers have worked really hard to turn it around, and are doing a great job. If you can get your kids into one of the specialist programmes they are fantastic, my son is in the academic stream and loves it. Yes there are some feral kids, but you get that everywhere. Anyway, that's my two cents, hope it helps.
