3FatCats
I mean, really, there are folk out there who must think people are stupid and have no access to the internet to check things out.... Am trying to sell a few bits on Gumtree, and all I get are emails from "buyers" who want to send a shipping company to collect without viewing, and would like to do the deal via Paypal..... :policeman: Apparently this is a known scam, so they can either get hold of your details or password or some other bit of useful information.... Anyhow, just wanted to know if anyone has any other suggestions for selling used furniture other than Ebay? Any other useful sites?
wolvesaussie
Just go it on gumtree but have cash on collection only, we bought loads of gum tree and ebay
tingtongman
Gum tree is good for cash in hand, anything that seems a bit funny walk away from it. I look for jobs on their and you need to be careful as a lot of scams. Anything that uses paypal you should usually stay clear as a rule of thumb on paypal
3FatCats
My ads are clearly cash on collection only, but all I get are time wasters with their scams, which is why I was interested in hearing about any other "better" sites! There must be some good ideas out there...
calNgary
Ive never had a much of a problem with scammers on there, i find there e-mails blatantly obvious and just delete them. I have noticed quite a few ad's lately, saying phone calls only so maybe this is to combat receiving the spam e-mails. Cal x

3FatCats
Whats wrnog with paypal though, I used that with ebay for years and never had a problem with it. It's because the Gumtree scammers use fake Paypal accounts, lots of info on Google from folk who have been scammed. Through Ebay it is regulated. LKC
I don't know whereabouts you are, but Sutherland Shire (where we live) has a couple of Facebook pages for selling things. There may be something similar in your area? Ours is called The Sutherland Shire Buy, Sell & Swap, and only allows people within Sutherland Shire to join. I have had a couple of time-wasters not turn up to collect, but in each case there was a 'next in line', so the items were sold to the next person. Might be worth a look to see if there is one local to you, as it is cash on collection only.
