Advice for my mother's VISA

Hello,

Myself and my spouse have been granted 190 VISA and would be flying in April next year.

Now, I wish to have a visa for my mother. I am the only child of my mother. I had not declared her in my VISA application since she is NOT dependent on me.

I understand that a permanent (or contributory) visa will be costlier. For now, I would like to go for a tourist or any other VISA which would allow her a maximum stay in Australia.

FYI, she would touch 60 next year and will retire from her job too.

Please suggest which would be the best option for me.

Regards.

Am I eligible for a dependent VISA ? My mother would retire next year and she would be getting some pension too.

Regards.

Hi there,

not currently. Rupert already answered your question.

As a PR you're may be eligible to sponsor your mum after two years residency.

Thanks Silencio,

I would go with option of "Multiple entry multi-year visa" as suggested by Wrussell. All I need to find out is which subclass suits me the best.

Regards.
