I am watching the budget and wonder if what he says will make us all glad that we have decided to leave this god forsaken s@*&t hole!!!!!

There is nothing left for us here except family.

We just can not afford to live here any longer and can't offer our children anything for the future!!

No believe me it will be better, we will have less mortgage and husband will actually earn more than here. We are going to Adelaide so it is much cheaper for houses than the UK.

I know that rates are higher etc I have done research but generally living is better. The UK is getting smaller and smaller and I worry for the future of my children.

Excuse me but is this not meant to be about people wanting to move to oz!! This is my opinion and our life is pretty crap here at the moment! NO money, bad credit, really struggling!

I did not expect to come on here and be judged!!!

Maybe I will not bother anymore, talk about rude!!

In MY opinion life will be better in oz.

This is only one of my first posts and I think I will not bother if that is the reaction I am going to receive!!

Being new to this board I am a little upset by the negative comments towards some people who are just trying to state their own opinion on

A) how they feel about the state of the UK and

B) what they think will be better for them leaving and going to OZ!

Are we all not here to support each other??

I personally agree with the keans there is nothing left here for us and having friends also in Adelaide I agree that life will be better there whether it be fianancially or just general family life.

Hey the Keans,

Don't be put off .. surely many of us share this same opinion .. and we should be allowed to voice it. It doesn't necessarily mean that we all naively think that Oz is the land of milk and honey, we are just fed up of the UK !!

This is a community forum and ALL voices should be heard equally.... even those with negative thoughts... after all we are all here to help each other aren't we?

If you are struggling in the UK to live you will really struggle in Oz. wages are lower but houses and the cost of living is higher here, I work 6 days a week and have nothing left over after all the bills go out.

Forgive me for asking but why did all of you go to OZ if its soooo bad there??

I'm getting a bit confused with it all.

My husband is in a professional job he does not get that much money here, we have a big mortgage and live in an expensive area.

In Adelaide we could half our mortgage my husband could get more money or the same money at least and I know this as we have a friend in the same field.

What were everyones reasons for wanting to go and do you now regret that decision?

Wages in trades like bricklaying plumbing sparkey etc are lower than the UK, houses in Perth are as high as kent where I come from, I find the cost of living more expensive...and the real pain is that Lager is about £3.50+ and belive it or not, wine is also more expensive than back home..

I like the weather although it can get too hot 40+, I may feel better when I try somwhere else as Perth is not for me.

Did anyone watch the programme on the BBC last night? The Poles are coming? Quite an eye opener.....

The Poles are good workers, you will find you are also an immigrant in Oz and some of the locals make you know it.

I meant it was an eye opener to immigration in general. I have nothing against the Poles or any other immigrant as generally they are harder workers and keener to succeed than the locals.

I was more shocked by the behaviour of the young english people and their reaction to competition in the workplace.

I am with you on that, I dont go with the doom and gloom Daily Mail brigade in the UK, the workers who go to work in the UK are great for the Country...its the ones who just want to scrounge of the state are the ones they must get rid of...they are finally doing an oz type point system,.....horse bolted comes to mind.

Yes, the poles may be good workers ,but it is the people here that are employing them because they are cheap labour that are the problem. My OH is a bricklayer and he would disagree with you. Because they charge half the price they get the work. Now that the Poles have got all their work experience and qualifications they are all buggering off back to their own country and leaving the our British workers to tidy up after them.

This country is going downhill there is absolutely no doubt about it. We want to move to Perth mainly because my family is there but houses may be more expensive, the pay may be less but I do believe that my kids will have a better, safer and healthier lifestyle.

My sister has lived in Perth for nearly 4 years now. Their first year was very hard but never once did they compain or were they negative and never have they felt like they did not belong. I am a great believer that if you are going to a new country to live you try and fit in. No different than starting at a new school or a new job. They now have a great life. Yes, money maybe a bit tight but their weekends are spent socialising with their friends round a BBQ or down at the beach. My nephew is doing sports he never would have done here.

All those that emigrate don't have rose coloured glasses on, although I think alot of people assume we do. We are aware it will be a hard slog but god willing we will succeed. Yes, we may be classed as immigrants in Oz but that is just the way it goes.

The new budget will affect me as fags and booze have gone up, but the bl**dy wait just for acknowledgment is killing me quicker.

Claire, good for you for researching your future and chosing to voice your opinion. It is interesting to hear peoples views and opinions both in and out of Australia but at the end of the day the decision is yours and I think it will be the best decision you will have made.

I would just like to add that I very rarely voice my opinions, but this time I have. I do not wish to upset anyone.

Exactly........the main point of the programme was to say that it's not the actual immigration that's the problem it is the scale of it that causes issues.

As you say the UK govt may be a little too late copying the Oz system

Good luck to you and hope you like Perth, but people moan about the UK all the time and it is only right that people who live in Oz can moan and complain about Oz as well, I have been in Perth 12 months and hate the place.will try somewhere else soon, all people are different.

if i'm right the uk points system is for those outside the eu because any member of the eu is free to live and work anywhere inside the eu no borders and all that so we can't actual stop them coming from europe only outside.

Yes that is correct, this is for anyone outside of the EU.

Hi Clare

You won't be sorry, there is not much here to look forward to. Spent a weekend in Bournemouth a few weeks ago, the weekend that was sunny and dry - seems like ages ago now. We wish we had made the decision a long time ago. Both kids now grown up and one wants to come, one wants to stay put! That is going to be heartbreaking but we are determined to go ahead. Having medicals next week then just have to wait for visa if meds OK. Can't wait for the big adventure to start!

Good luck to you.

That is fair enough. We hope that if and when we do get to Oz, our home will be in Perth but would love to see the rest of Oz. Are you young if you do not mind me asking? I think the youngies find Perth a bit boring? Do you have a family?

27....I just find that Perth although a great place for some and I am sure your kids will love it, but it has as many problems as the UK with anti-social behaviour crime etc in some parts, so choose where you live carefully, and yes it is boring after living in London, everything kind of shuts down in the evening and has no buzz about it...if you are after a quiet relaxed life then Perth is for you, and the kids with love learning to surf. Be carefull though.....click the link below.

Oh crap! Forgot about them. However, as I am the size of a beached whale I think it would do a u-turn. I have a great fascination with sharks, mainly due to the old Jaws films. Just love them! My sister lives in Edgewater and my dad is in Kallaroo so many days were spent down on Mullalloo beach but I hardly went in the water. Did not have a problem with the family going in but not me. I used to stand on the beach and keep an eye out.

I think that as you are still young and were living in London I can see why the pace of life is too slow for you.

We live in a small town in East Sussex. The furthest I have ventured is Brighton for the nightlife. We will be after a quiet relaxed life, well as quiet and relaxed as it can be with two boys. I do worry about the financial side of it alot but I am lucky with having my family there. My OH has a big family here but he is adamant he wants to go. I think that once I am there I will never want to come back here. I was born and lived most of my life abroad until parents sent me back here for boarding school. I have always felt that I would not live my days out here.
