xxlornaxx
Im a mental health nurse and I am getting all my documents together to apply for modified skills assesment from anmac...only thing thats taking time and probably will b done wrong anyway is my professional reference...anmac website confused me a little on reference requirement so I emailed them and they replied that I did not need a reference if my qualification was solely in mental health, only needed it if it was a general degree...im really pleased about this as means i can apply straight away, I dont need the points for work experience either. .. but also a little wary..ive heard ppl say they get told things by anmac n immi that then turn out to be false...and on here every1 seems to send a reference...anyone any idea? I dnt want to get it wrong. Thanks
xxlornaxx
Anybody not sent reference or heard of this?
jac2011
Iv never heard of this but I haven't been through the process, hopefully someone will know as it would be useful to have it confirmed. I don't like the thought of asking for a reference after only being in a job 3 months!
justin27470
I had to get a reference from a company that I was working at for 4 weeks. anything you havnt got to do is a bonus!!! right? they gave me a good one by the way.lol
Guest Guest 47403
Anmac asked my wife for more detail on hers (dates) so we had to resend it, I'd send one tbh I wouldn't rely on what one individual says.
nic1171
Perhaps you only need Prof ref for purpose of defining ANZSCO code and with mental health there may be only one? With RGN there were a few to choose from albeit it dosent restrict you once registered with AHPRA However if claiming points for length of service it's needed for RGN as I needed to get 3 to cover the 10 years, HR statements weren't sufficient. Flathead
There is no separate Mental Health registration here. All registrations are for RN and, theoretically you are registered to work in any area....I do not see how the rules can be different for RMNs
nic1171
For the purposes of ANMAC and skill shortage list there are at at least 12 subsections for nurses, 1 for mental health, the remaining 11 for RGNs
Flathead
For the purposes of ANMAC and skill shortage list there are at at least 12 subsections for nurses, 1 for mental health, the remaining 11 for RGNs But there is still only one registration and that is RN
nic1171
But in order to get that registration you have to specify an ANZSCO code
Flathead
But in order to get that registration you have to specify an ANZSCO code Indeed.....but it seems very unlikely that RMN's would be treated differently to RGN's when they are both applying for the same registration. nic1171
What part of this thread have you responded to the OPs query as to why she dosent need a professional reference? Thank God for the ignore button Goodbye FH

Thank God for the ignore button Goodbye FH How strange? That is what I am doing....I am saying it is unlikely that she will be treated any differently simply because she is RMN...which is what I am as well. xxlornaxx
Thanks for the input I might apply without and print off the email and post it with application so they can see they told me i didnt need one?
shelz
i think the difference is you are applying for a modified assessment and you would have already provided these for AHPRA, i was under the same impression but depends on which code u are looking at x
xxlornaxx
It seems to imply on website you need ref for modified too..I didnt get a reference for my ahpra just a statement of service...anyway ive sent my anmac app off with no refefence so fingers crossed! To the OP - personally, I would send the reference
hjc123
Bump! Can anyone confirm whether a 3 month reference was needed for RMNs? I'm hoping to apply as soon as I qualify.
xxlornaxx
I didn't need reference or the three months experience..however everyone on here has said they needed it and I may have just fluked it! I did contact them and asked them and included email where they advised me it was not necessary for mental health so maybe contact them like I did X
