Permanent Residency Visa (190)? A few Questions...

Hi, we are painfully slowly trying to emigrate to Australia (Adelaide) - Originally hoped that we might be in a position to fly out next May, but i feel delays from outside sources in issuing information/references to my wife, will now make this unrealistic?

As a Married couple with two young children, we are going down the route of skilled nominated state sponsored permanent residency Visa (190)?

My wife is a Specialist Diabetes Nurse/educator and as such will be making the application....

Currently we are at the stage of:

  • Poised to send of skills Assessment -My wife has collated all her university transcripts and references (literally just received the last reference she was waiting for) but is waiting for a further breakdown of her transcripts to appease ANMAC

  • Just completed IELTS where my wife scored 8.5 BUT she did the basic one having taken guidance from the IELTS website, but now feels she should have taken Academic - So she is going to re-book.

So lets say in 1 months time the IELTS will have been retaken and all the information and completed form will have been sent to ANMAC....

We may then have to wait 12 weeks for them to complete from their end.

What (just to re-confirm) should we be doing/applying for after that and in what order?

But we seem to have stalled a little (i have been massively busy at work and my wife the same) we want to re-inject some motivation into our emigration quest - Is there anything we can be doing in the interim?

I appreciate that i will will be subject to Medicals and Police checks but am i correct in thinking i don't need to do IELTS?

One thing that the delays do allow us to do, is spend more time saving money (as we don't plan to sell our UK property strait away).

Making sure we have adequate funds is essential.

Costs so far are:

£450 for the ANMAC form(s)

£130 (x2) for the IELTS

I can find quite easily research what to expect to pay for shipping and air fares and the initial costs needed to rent property etc but i wonder if anyone could give be a breakdown of the approximate expected (further) fee's in getting our Visa issued?

We wont be using an agent - which is where this Forum becomes a godsend at this stage.

Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

Hi Richard, I know what you mean, we are hoping to go to Adelaide August time next year. From everything I have read on here and the DIAC I believe once you have received your ANMAC back then apply for State sponsorship I think this way it will save you money if there are any problems with the ANMAC forms or delays. I believe then that you have to apply for EOI which once they have given you the go ahead you only have so many weeks to get the visa application started. Its the money that is slowing us down. I am just about now ready to send off the ANMAC forms which will give me enough time to save for the inital Visa payment and that of the children as well (which is a new fee added). THis is a fantastic forum and what people dont know on here isnt worth knowing somebody will be able to help you with the shipping etc im not so lucky in the financial department and will have to sell the house but like you its just a constant save save save .. Good luck hope to see you in the future in Adelaide

Hi!

We are a family of four who are also going for the 190 Visa. The Visa alone will cost us $7040 which at the moment is approx. £4100. We've already done Skills Assessment and IELTS, but then there's the cost of Medicals , Police Checks, and us all flying out on a validation trip if the Visa's granted. If we move, then it will be more thousands of pounds for shipping and flights.......

Working hard and saving up at the moment!

Hi Del, Hi Rose - Thank you for your replies.

Del, is the £4100 including the new costs for the children that Rose refers to?

The Validation trip - Is that for your own piece of mind or something that is required?

Yes, that is including the new costs for children and spouse. You have to activate your visa within a certain period of time (depending on when you had Medical / Police Check), and as we wouldn't be ready to up sticks and go, we would have to travel out (all 4 of us) and back, to validate our Visa........

Hi Richard, with regards to the IETLS, why did you say that your wife needs to take the academic?; I also went the 190visa route; I took the General/Basic type, I just needed to have a score of at least 7.5 on all subjects; better check the requirements for your wife.

Also, be prepared for the financials/statement of assets, I do not know how much is the minimum requirement for Adelaide... better check that one too... and finally, we were not eligible for any government support for the first two years... but it might be different in your case since you have children.. but better check it out also.

Good luck to you guys and see you here!

Cheers!

Don't worry - we all learn along the way! That's why this forum is so useful, as people are at different stages. The 'search' facility is good for looking up specifics too, but just check that the post isn't old and out of date........

Hi Richard, Rupert is correct, your wife definitely needs to do the Academic if she wants a successful ANMAC assessment. The other point I thought I better add, once ANMAC is done, you submit your Expression of Interest for the 190 visa and from that, the state you want nominated by will send you an invite to apply for state sponsorship. We just put our EOI in on Friday. :) Good luck!
