  1. Can anyone advise on what the timescale length it takes to get a visa refund, sent in for a refund request late October 2016 and had no correspondence to even say they'd even received our application for a refund. :arghh:
  2. HI Lilly Flower, I will probably be writing the same thread as you in a couple of years, we are currently applying for a visa. We have lived in oz before and came home because the eldest wasnt settling, he finished school, doesnt see the friends he was pining for and has become an engineer, he told me two years ago he was going to move back to Oz i could have killed him lol . In the time that I returned to the uk I have had my eyes wide opened, Im lucky if I see my son once a month, my daughter is about to start university and certainly needs to leave home lol ,although I am putting her hopefully on the visa, (sorry im waffling ) what Im trying to say is that i have argued with myself so many times about what is the right thing to do ? I dote on my children and I will always be there for them but I also dote on my youngest son and husband and I am not going to sit and stay where I am unhappy waiting for a telephone call or a quick visit to see how im doing ,and they certainly dont want me visiting constantly. They will visit us in oz but like you I am hoping and praying my daughter will follow after university.I look back and I made a massive mistake, my boy wanted to come back to UK and I felt so guilty I couldnt settle and I wouldnt allow myself to settle to be honest. We spent so much money on starting again in the UK but honestly within six months of returning the novelty of family had worn off and we hardly saw anybody, my mother in law says she saw more of us when we were in oz. Im wondering if its just the guilt thats stopping you from settling down? Like somebody else has said you could come back and the children may come to their senses in a few years and tell you that they are moving to Oz and it could be too late for you to get back (which is basically whats happened to us I just made the points but in 2 years id have no chance so this is it for us its now or never ) I think its very hard for us mothers to let go, that said its still not easy to put yourself and your marriage before the kids. Good luck honey xxx

  6. Absolutely I had over 80 s on everything but reading but I took advise from this forum I bought tnbe book with CD from Amazon (cheaper) and worked through it I was shocking at telling the details of graphs in the allocated time so I wasn't surprised but I have sat the ielts 5 x and got over 7s once I passed this first time x good Luck x
  7. Dear Supercow, I am just wanting to thankyou sincerely for your thread, I read it and read and gained the courage to apply for the pearson test, I, like you, passed it the first time, I believe this test to be so much easier, especially for English educated people, however as you have previously stated this is not a guarantee ,but for me the whole set up was much better than IELTS. I sat the test on Wednesday and had the results the following morning. I would not have attempted the pearson test without reading your thread as the IELTS had knocked my confidence, Thank you so much for sharing your experience. :notworthy: xxx Lisa
  8. Thank you all so much for your help i am pleased to say I passed the test , sat it on Wednesday and had the results the following morning. I now have a spare book if anybody would like to borrow it x
  9. HI , I just noticed your thread and its just a coincidence that I was coming on to the thank the gentleman who had put a large thread on regarding the differences between the two. I have sat IELTS what feels like so many times I eventually passed it the first time round after 3 times which helped to get my skills assessment, I then stupidly let time lapse and lost points due to age. I then had to sit the nightmare test again to gain the points and shock horror I failed it again by 0.5 (IELTS) I decided to try the pearson test after reading the Gentlemans thread, I was petrified and put a thread on myself asking for practice papers, I took the advise of a lady who said it was ok but she recommended buying the book which i did. Basically I was over the moon , I sat the test most of it was ok and due to IELTS i just didnt have any confidence in myself. The results were supposed to take 5 days, I sat it this Wednesday and had my marks the day after, i was only a few marks from superior English and that was because im crap at reading graphs in time lol, I was nowhere near superior in the IELTS. Obviously I can only speak for myself but i promise you I have only ever been an average student how I got a degree i will never know lol . Good luck in whichever test you take , I would also recommend looking in the search engine for the gentleman who compares the two test magnificently.

HI Has anybody sat the Pearson English Academic there doesn't seem to much free preparation for it and costs a fair bit for the online version but if I have to get this then I will . I was wondering how others found the test overall .
  13. Thank you im boomin useless with technology xxx
  14. Hi , I have now at last been informed that I have passed my skills assessment. As some of you will know various documents have to be acquired to achieve this, in particular an English language test, My assessement has taken so long that my IElts Test has now expired. I am wanting to put in a EOI now, Will they just accept my complete skills assessment as proof that the IELTS was achieved or am i going to have to bloomin sit the the thing again ..............:arghh:
  15. Please please please could somebody let me have a look at a professional reference they had done by their employers for the ANMAC skill assessment, I know there is an example but i have just received mine back from my employers and im not sure there is enough examples of what i actually do. A reference from a neonatal nurse would be really really helpful. Thank you xxx Lisa:arghh:
  16. initially its for the skills assessment but yes it would be for the visa . Thank you for your help .
  17. I hope im not boring anybody with this question but i have to ask. I have just read somewhere that the postmaster can certify copies can somebody just confirm that this is wrong or right. thank you x
  18. I think its ridiculous how the skills assessment ANMAC accept DIP HE and Ahpra dont they are going to lose out on very experienced nurses, I am so glad I topped up mine though its just another obstacle for people to get over though but im sure all worth it in the end.
  19. I cant thank you enough for putting on this thread as we have been pondering whether we would be able to get a 190 as I too only have 55 points it must have been the other poms forum that told me i would need 60 to start with im waiting for the australian office in London to get back to me but i will sleep tonight now phew. Thanks again and good luck with everything. Lisa
  20. Thank you it is reassuring when other people have had the same idea. x Good luck to you too x
  21. Thanks Val me too x the estate agent said things were selling in our area , Kippax. LEEDS West Yorkshire but i suppose they would say that lol will have to see. fingers crossed anyways.
  22. Thank you for your replies, I appreciate how it looks - it does seem bizarre to sell house etc. but we would have sold anyway, if for any reason we are unable to come to oz we would move out of the area anyway, i am desperate to move and i have looked at threads before showing that they were having to put their moves to oz on hold because they were unable to sell their properties. We also have to wait approximately a year for our daughter to complete A levels and either come with us or settle into university so we decided to sell then rent until we decided once and for all what to do at least then we would have less things to worry about, also financially we were not in a position to finance the move or the visa without the equity from the house. Its a case of needs must and im getting to the age where my points are drastically reducing lol so its now or never. Very Stormy I honestly didnt know that thank you for that information i can pass it on to my colleagues thankfully for me while ive been off the forum sulking i topped my ADV Dip up to Degree (thank god). I would presume that that would be a huge problem to those nurses who have been qualified a number of years as the new courses are now all degree. I agree with you also on the fact that a visa is not a certainty seen as i literally just have enough points xxx thank you all for your comments
  23. Thank you Ali - still reading all the comments on here lol the whole visa process still confusing but i must sell house and wait for my skill assessment thats the first thing to do.
  24. HI i have not been on the forum for a while was getting a bit sole destroyed as things were not working out well for us. We are now im very pleased to say in a position where we have just put the house up for sale so at least things a now moving in the right direction. Where we will end up i do not know i will leave it up to fate and see where the nursing jobs are for me. I am now looking forward to reading all of your posts which have always been a massive help to decisions being made. My first being i have to get out of the UK and the NHS x
  25. Sorry Richard I had forgotten to say that your wife will need the academic and I believe this is before ANMAC will honour your Skills assessment, however you can still send everything else and get the process going just tell them the IELTS will follow. Good Luck
