rickandange
Hi Chaps We've been invited to apply for our WA 190 visa (woo hoo), but need a bit of help with realistic costing for the price of living please. We need to specify our weekly budget for two, which luckily doesn't include rent or household insurances because initially we will be living rent (but not bill) free with Rick's brother in Baldivis. Does this sound about right, and what have I missed: Private Health Care for 2 per week = $ Utilities for 2 per week = $50 ???? Mobile phones for 2 people per week = $10???? Fuel for car per week = $40 ???? Car Rego and Insurance per week = $ Food/shopping for 2 people per week = $70????? Leisure for 2 people per week = $70???? Any help REALLY REALLY appreciated! fifi69
What have you included in the $70 leisure?
rickandange
We go climbing over here and I think the cost for both of us to keep it up weekly in Perth would be $20-30 per visit. Plus a bit extra just in case. I suppose odd trips to the cinema or a meal out would cost even more weekly though hey? Do you have any ideas for other costs listed? Thanks. Wellers and Whitehead
I think you are under estimating prices, for example my phone is $45 per month..so times that by 2 approx.
rickandange
Okay thank you. I thought it would be around $40 per person so I'm not sure why I put $10 oer week above. Think the panic is setting in
Tickled Pink
I think food shopping, when you include things like kitchen roll, toilet roll, cleaning products, toothpaste etc is mor likely to be abou 110 per week. That's my average... My phone costs me 30 a month.
sami
Hi Rick and Ange Health cover- I won't quote mine as it's "top cover" so expensive, but my son pays $90 a month (457 visa), would be cheaper if already PR. Mobiles - I have a $20 a month plan, but I don't call out that much, sometimes I go over up too $10 month if I do call out more. Fuel - small car (Hyundai 30) - spend about $120 monthly, do about 450km every fortnight. Electricity (every 2 months) - average about $140$ Water (every 6 months) - average about $15 month Gas (every 3 months) - about $50 monthly Rego - I pay about $450 year (this will depend on year of car) Car insurance - about $600 year (recent car, so full cover) Shopping - $70 might be on the low, food is expensive, I spend around $120 to $180, but I also buy a lot of cat food (5 cats!!) I don't spend much on leisure, we do go out to movies or eat out once in a while... Best of luck, Sami
Guest
I pay $17 a month for my phone bill. If you already have a phone try Vaya.net.au

VERYSTORMY
Food costs will vary a lot based on the individual and if you want supermarket stuff or higher quality / organic and things, in which case the price jumps significantly. It is not unusual for us to spend $300 a week for two of us. Meals out also can be expensive - again depends on the person
