  4. A day late for my birthday present, but waiting 204 days, and after 9 years on a 457, we have finally received the good news. Wow,wow, wow!! Congratulations to l the others who've made this journey and good luck to those waiting.
  5. I can't seem to find a spreadsheet with the 186 visa timelines. Does anyone know how to find it? Our application was acknowledged on 13th August....so anxious with this long wait! I see there are others from August also waiting, hope it's not long to go.

    e-visitor visa

My parents are coming to visit in December and I wanted to apply for the e-visa for them. Just realized that I need to set up an Immi account. I wonder if I could use my usual/old account that I used to apply for my visa or should I set up a different account. They mention "you need to be out of Australia to apply for this visa". Technically I'm here but would be applying for my parents who are overseas. Hope I don't get into trouble, but my parents are too worried about doing it themselves and getting things wrong! Anyone done it this way?
  8. Thanks Maggie May. Our 457 expires in Nov 2017, in that case there would be no problem to travel if the PR comes through while we are away from Australia.
  9. My husband's company will be submitting the application for Visa 186 (from 457) before the end of the month. We were planning on taking a short holiday outside Australia, at the end of August, but I don't know if are actually allowed to travel while waiting for the visa to come through. Any problem with that, or what if the visa is granted while we are away? Thanks
  10. Thanks Rammygirl. The Immigration site just mentions blood test for HIV, nothing else. it would be for the 186 Employer Nomination, we have been in Australia a few years already, and just visited Europe a few months ago. No piercing or tattoos either... I was just wondering if it included cholesterol and blood sugar and things like that.
  11. Hi, does anyone know what type of blood tests are involved in the Medical examination? And how long before you get your results? Thanks
  12. I'm so excited, my son got his PR today on the 189 skilled !! His timeline was EOI on 1/7/13, invitation 15/7/13, application lodged 23/7/13. Medicals (done before lodgement) and Police certificate also lodged on 23/7. So no contact at all from CO, he called DIAC 2 weeks ago to find out if what was happening and was told things were on the right track. He is a Software engineer, already in Australia, he was in our 457 visa and studied in OZ.
  13. We ran over a huge one a couple of years ago on our first trip from Perth to Denmark. The sun had just set and we were just 3km from Walpole. Around a bend this thing just crossed the road and my husband couldn't avoid it even though he put the breaks. We just heard clunk, clunk, clunk. The car was badly damaged, it took us 1 1/2 hours to do the 3kms to Walpole where we spent the night in the first motel we came across. The next day we called a mechanic who said the damage was too much for him to fix and the car had to be towed to Albany and we flew to Perth 2 days later, having to cut our trip short. Luckily it was a company car and all insured, because the damage was $9000 worth!! Now we know never to drive before sunrise or after dusk, and even then we have our eyes wide open.
  14. Congratulations. I have been watching your time line as my soon submitted exactly 5 days after you. Just saw you were granted PR, hopefully he will get his soon. What a great feeling, you will love Perth.
  15. I'm no expert, but you need a visa to enter Australia, we also came on a 457 and we had to wait for it, ours was quick, about 1 month. From our experience and from other's bad experiences with a 457 visa, I wouldn't do anything until the visa was stamped in the passport...even then, nothing is secure.
  16. A bit strange...my son applied for his 189 was invited on 15th July, and submitted his PR and documentation uploaded on 23rd, and since then has uploaded a few more documents without any problems whatsoever!!
  17. Hi Rick and Ange Health cover- I won't quote mine as it's "top cover" so expensive, but my son pays $90 a month (457 visa), would be cheaper if already PR. Mobiles - I have a $20 a month plan, but I don't call out that much, sometimes I go over up too $10 month if I do call out more. Fuel - small car (Hyundai 30) - spend about $120 monthly, do about 450km every fortnight. Electricity (every 2 months) - average about $140$ Water (every 6 months) - average about $15 month Gas (every 3 months) - about $50 monthly Rego - I pay about $450 year (this will depend on year of car) Car insurance - about $600 year (recent car, so full cover) Shopping - $70 might be on the low, food is expensive, I spend around $120 to $180, but I also buy a lot of cat food (5 cats!!) I don't spend much on leisure, we do go out to movies or eat out once in a while... Best of luck, Sami
  18. Thanks Andre. The email went to spam so he hadn't seen it. He was notified. Thanks everyone!
  19. Actually he is on our 457 visa - my husband being the one being sponsored, and my son studied here and now applied for his own visa. Our visa runs out end of September, so needs to be renewed, reason why I wondered if the Bridging Visa would be issued soon. Hoping that he gets a CO soon and visa issued pretty soon too... Thanks
