Gracie
Hey all, I've been in Australia since last September on a 457. Due to that nature of my job I was required to move states last March. My employer didn't reimburse me for any of the costs. My question is are these costs tax deductible? I thought they were as they are directly related to my income but recently I've been told that they are not..... Has anyone else been in this situation, were you able to claim back any of your out of pocket expenses? Thanks in advance
Rupert
I would doubt very much that moving expenses are tax deductible. This is your choice, people move for work all the tie.
blossom
I would employ a tax accountant.
Sammy1
Probably not, whereas trips for work are tax deductible. Ask an accountant to be sure.

thombatt
A tax consultant will cost you ~$250 to tell you (and this will be deductible next year). Details are a little sparse here. It will be $250 well spent in my opinion.
gwolst77
A good tax consultant/accountant will always pay for themselves in the money they save/reclaim for you. Go and see one and you will be surprised at what you probably can claim for
