Found it at last, lol

People on PIO keep asking about, pay and the cost of living, I found this graph from 2009 I know it's out of date, but in that time wages in Australia have gone up about 12% and in the UK about 3%. The overall totals at the bottom work out at about $2.35 to £1, but it will be higher now probably at least $2.4 to £1.

I will look for a more up to date one.

Can everyone see it? When I copied and pasted it using my iPad I could see it, but when I posted the thread, all I can see now is a tiny blue box.

Average salary falls 3pc in face of high inflation - Telegraph

If thats the case for Australian wages, then alot of people will be doing it tough out here. You would struggle to live in Perth on these wages. The only one I see liveable is the mining wages. If it is correct that the average mortgage is over $300,000 then I worry about this place. You need to be on $100,000 to have a average lifestyle in Perth nowadays. Its so much harder to have double incomes out here as well. The distances are just not worth it whilst trying to pick the kids up and still come out at the end of the week with enough money to pay the bills.

A good 'lifestyle/living' can be had for less - just depends how many cars and big screen tv's you want in your crap faced concrete mansion with no real garden to talk of.

We all have different standards. Just a correction - beach facing concrete mansion. Your right about the small garden. We just have a large pool. Mate.

I put the figures on to show the average wages in Australia, obviously some are lower than others, just like here in the UK. I think most families have to have both parents working these days to have a decent quality of life, if only one parent works and i know this happens, then you will struggle in both countries, unless you earn close to £40k in the UK and $100k in Australia.

I have just been checking for average wages in the UK and this is all I could find, I thought the average wage was about £26,000 TBH but more importantly, it hasnt gone up in over 4 years and I think the average in Australia is about $65,000
