  1. That's great to hear :). I have done my EOI but haven't got my partners details as I didn't want it to cause any problems Incase they said I was claiming something I wasn't. I'll go back and update it now to include his occupation and just make sure we aren't claiming points for it
  2. I don't have an agent. I have just had the initial consultation thing. I'm doing it by myself
  3. Hi Paul, I have a specific question if you can answer it. I have passed this by an agent but don't feel confident with their answer, although I was at the time! I thought about you answering this one and I have more faith in you I have asked before about work experience and maternity leave but I was just guessing the figures. I have the specifics now. During my maternity leave, I had 4 weeks full pay from work, 12 weeks half pay from work (topped up to full with SMP) then 6 months just SMP. I've been advised by the agent that I can claim work experience for the 4 weeks full pay and the 12 weeks half pay plus SMP (then not allowed to claim 6 months just SMP). So for my maternity leave, I can claim 18 weeks experience. I was employed before and after my maternity leave for a number of years with the same employer. Does this sound right? I don't want to overclaim. Thanks
  4. It is specific questions I have really. I'm confident with most of it and I have all the documents ready (I think!) I spent a long time going over a few points such as the partner occupation (he's a mechanical engineer but not enough points to apply as primary) and we aren't getting a skills assessment for him as it takes so long for his occupation. The work experience caught me out too for a while as the maternity leave element needed some thought, but I think I'm pretty much there with it now. I just need my skills assessment back then I can hit send!
  5. Newcastle and Wollongong have both been recommended to me before I believe they are usually a bit cooler with being by the coast?
  6. Paul Hand, just noticed you are an agent? Are you an agent who looks over applications done by people or do you not offer that service?
  7. Thanks. Yes, I meet all of the NSW criteria, it's just with 70 points, I'm not sure of my chances. We have a young family who are more interested in being outdoors and not really city living type people. Plus I think VIC might get a bit hot for us! Like I said, we'd happily go with either tbh!
  8. Thanks so much for your help. Does it look better if you have gone through an agent? Are they more likely to select you do you think? Is there any way of finding out which state has invited more teachers? I've tried that website where you can put in two data parameters but it's a bit basic in terms of working out which state is best to go with. I will scrap the multiple EOI idea. I might do one for six months then withdraw and do another for 6 months or something instead. Or just accept if I'm not invited in a year for the chosen state, that it isn't going to happen. Just need to chose one now. I think it will probably be NSW tbh. So I'll focus my attention on that one. Thanks again
  9. Yes,I got 20 points for that. It's my age and no Aussie experience that lets me down
  10. We would genuinely like to live in either so it wouldn't matter which chose us as we would just live there. I just don't want to ruin my chances. If two separate emails addresses with an EOI each would work, I just thought that it would double my chance of getting selected. I only have 70 points I'd not want to ruin my chances altogether though. At what point do they ask about other states? If it is at the beginning I wouldn't lie about it, so I'd only choose one. If they don't ask until you lodge, I could potentially just withdraw my other one before stating that I'm not applying elsewhere? Or would that not work? It's so tricky trying to work out the right one to go for! I wish we had one in mind rather than either!
  11. Hmmmm thanks. I was hoping to put a few out and then accept whichever was first (if any!) If I accepted and then deleted the others, would that work?!
  12. Would they know if it was two separate EOI?
  13. Hi We are hoping to get to either VIC or NSW on a 190 visa. If we used our two separate email addresses could we set up two separate EOIS? One for VIC and one for NSW, or would they know we had done two? If it's a bad thing to do, we will just pick one and hope!
  14. Ok great thanks Then I assume it's obvious at a later stage that you aren't claiming points for them? Have you received an invite yet? We are all very new to this!
  15. Hello, We are just at the EOI stage and wondered about the partner skills too. My partner doesn't have a skills assessment and won't be getting one, but did you still fill in the bix stating what their job was? Or did you leave it blank in the end? Not sure what to do Thanks
  16. Thanks for your help. So would I put the employer then the period of full time and tick the relevant box, then the same employer and the period of part time but don't tick the relevant box, then put the same employer and put back up to full time so tick the relevant box? I have another question too which you might be able to help me with? Can I claim 5 points for partner English even if he doesn't have a skills assessment and his occupation is on the medium list and mine is on the short? If so, how?
  17. EOI help I have been working for my employer for 10+ years, but only 4 qualifies as some is part time/maternity. How do I show this? I don't want to over claim points. Do I just put it as two jobs over the time? Or can I somehow tell them only some is relevant?
  18. Ahhh the thing I saw but it said 'may not' so it wasn't so straight cut. Hmmmm.... It's cutting it fine if I claim three years then
  19. Sorry, one more question too! Did you send payslips in that showed your mat leave too? I've been advised to send 4 payslips per year so they will show some with no pay?
  20. For the visa? I can see people saying it doesn't matter for the teacher pay scale but not sure about the visa. Did all of it count, or just the paid section? How long ago? Thanks so much
  21. Hello, I have two questions that I don't seem to be able to get a straight answer for. The official guidance is so vague. 1. Does maternity leave count as work experience for the visa? I have 2 years 9 months without maternity leave and 3 years 6 months with maternity leave included, so it is very important to know either way. 2. If maternity leave is included, is it just the fully paid portion or can some on reduced rate count too. I get 3 months full pay, 3 months half pay then 3 months statutory. Can some of this count or all? Thanks
