I'm pretty sure for WA unless you work in construction a contract of employment is a prerequisite for a 190 visa.

They want to know how many days, what age group, what school, what year group. As far as what to say to them I'm not sure because my migration agent handled AITSL they just asked me for documents etc.

Hi Leah, Unfortunately I think you'll have a hard time with AITSL because they state explicitly the course must be 4 years, and one reason people get rejected with SCITTs is the lack of academic rigor (their words not mine) so without a PGCE and only a 3 year course it'll be hard, you may have to go back and do a masters in education, but speak to a Migration agent about this. I used TrueBlue Migration, they're not cheap but they are always reply daily and were very helpful to me before any contracts were signed.

Only if you're going for a 190, you need an employment contract guaranteed for 6 months I believe.

Neither job is on the list for a 189 visa, but they are for a 190, I thought those lists were the same but clearly not! But they are both on the short term lists. In fairness your advice about an agent is the best course, they can answer all these questions and know what visas are available to your careers.

Checking your emails daily? Waiting for the invite? Let's wait together I put my 189 EOI in on the 21st December 2023, (PTE test on 18th), gutted to have missed the last invitation round! Anyone else out there currently waiting for an invite?

Another question is are you planning to move permanently or temporary? Both jobs you can't apply for a 189 visa so you'd have to do a 190, isn't much of an issue unless you want to move to WA as you need an employment contract before you can apply for a visa, this is tricky for teaching, maybe less so for an Arborist I'm not sure. Could always look at a 186 visa for employer sponsorship, but you need 3 years experience, and the employer needs to agree of course

I'm not 100% sure why I needed a notary signature, it was suggested by my migration agent to support my application, essentially just said these are the modules I did at university, these are the ones that were accredited by the university and how they met the standards, screenshots of the module handbook etc. Basically, proving my SCITT was the same level as a straight PGCE approach.

That sounds promising, suppose I'm lucky maths is usually in demand. It's a relief regarding my wife, she was worried she wouldn't be able to teteach. Fingers crossed for an invite sooner rather than later!

Tell me about it, the weather in Bristol is awful too! We discussed where to live and decided SoR and would prefer anywhere from Rockingham to the Greater Mandurah area, so that sounds pretty promising. Easter is too early for me, this may sound odd considering we're leaving the country but I made promises to my year 10 students last year (Now Year 11 students) that I would stay until they finished their GCSEs. I would like to keep this promise and exams usually finish around May/June. I figured this might be how long it takes to get the invite, go through the visa process and be accepted anyway, although I have certainly heard of it happening quicker. I will definitely send a CV over when we're ready, and would appreciate any feedback you would have for me. I have a different question regarding my wife, she has recently qualified as a Primary School teacher, but due to our move will not be able to finish her ECT 2 year period (previously NQT 1 year), would she be able to work as a teacher or would her not finishing her ECT period be a problem?

We also have 2 daughters aged 12 and 7, so I think more than a month would be sensible as we have to find schools too! Thanks for the advice

In fairness money isn't that much of an issue for an extra month, it was mainly because we've heard stories of people struggling to find work for 6 months and then it could start to be a problem after that. So you think 2 months would be a better plan?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to find a teaching role in Western Australia while still in the UK? I submitted my 189 EOI last week as a secondary school maths teacher. I know there's a long way to go yet, but me and my wife were discussing moving before finding a job or using the 1 year period after getting the visa granted (hopefully), to find a teaching role and move over 1 month before the job starts, providing some level of financial stability. Any advice would be helpful Cheers in advance!

In fairness I worked at EY for 2 years as an Audi Associate without a degree, got in on the school leavers programme, it was an interesting experience. Ended up not being for me and now I'm a Maths teacher, but other routes are always out there!
