I’m going to be in pretty similar position, diffidence being we are going to rent out our property in the Uk and pay rent in Australia until we decide the move is definitely permanent then probably sell here in the uk and buy there. I have never dealt with taxes here in the uk because working for the nhs they just do it all and I never pay attention to my payslip. I don’t even understand it! This is going to be a new world for me!!! same goes for what to do about my pension here! It’s been always with the nhs and I don’t understand how it works! I’ll better start looking into it before time runs out! That is I f we ever get to board a plane in the middle of the pandemic!

It is al a quimera but it does feel good to have the flight booked!! Hopefully for you in few months it will be a bit more certain! Good luck

We had an other email with instructions to re book or get a refund, we managed to re book for the First week of November! Fingers crossed

Yes we book economy; it seems ages until October so we are just hopping things change soon! Prices are going up slightly, like at normal rate on normal times... maybe you could wait until July to see if flights are re started? We couldn’t sit tight just because it was one of the few things in our list we could tick off!!! it is crazy not to be able to plan anything at the moment!!! good luck to you too!!

We just bought direct flights for to Perth for October with Quantas today!!! It was very scary but we decided to gamble it, it is impossible to predict what would happen so the only thing to do now is to keep our fingers crossed...

Hi thanks for posting this! I’m moving to Oz late this year and will be looking into registration and supervised practice at some point! It’s reassuring to know that there are some jobs out there...

I read somewhere that if you buy businesses it’s less likely you get bumped... expensive gamble !

Thank you for the info! We had been waiting so long for the visa, then it is so frustrating not being able to just go! We are thinking to secure direct flights to Perth with Quantas for October (meaning buy them now) and hope that by then everything is more settled and easier! im assuming that if quantas cancel the flight they will re book you for the next available one... am i being too optimistic?

We have pretty similar situation and time lines. My visa issorted, it took 18 months, I have to activate my visa by November 2021 and we are also keen for our son to start school January 2022. I’m just not sure if we should buy flights for October now or wait?

Hi Lauren, we are going to Perth, visas sorted only trying to figure out how to get there and when. I have to enter Australia before November 2021, but not sure if that’s going to be possible, it’s all very uncertain! It is difficult to plan anything at the moment when you hear stories about flights being cancelled and quarantine to think about! We are my husband, me and a 5 year old, so not easy at all!

Hi Lauren, you are thinking along the same lines than us! We are planning to go around October time, if flights are available! And leave our small property here to rent. I have a permanent spouse visa, and probably will stay there for a long time, However not ready to sell here just in case! The practicalities around taxes and rental are something I’m definitely not familiar with and the thought of dealing with all of it specially once we are far away, is daunting.
