Btw i have one more question 😀

i am wondering is that possible if only my sister ( dependant child ) depart from aus & come back to aus within 1 week because her study at uni will start soon in mid January.
And my parents will come to aus in March.

or my parents ( main application) have to travel with my sister so their visa can activate

    i think that condition is 8502 .

Looking at the link AlwaysVet posted I would say she definitely has to enter either with or after the main applicant of the 143 but not before the main applicant.

  2. Latest report for anyone interested, based on the lodgement date and request for further docs for Greece 👍

Looks like the 143/173's have moved by around 700 since the last report I ran on 4 Nov.  Not bad, but I suspect it may start to slow down from mid March 2016 lodged dates due to the large numbers lodged in the following  months. 😩  Also we have no way of knowing how far they are into the quota this year, or the numbers of other visas which fall into the same annual quota.

Hi can I ask advice of people who’ve paid 2nd VAC from the uk.  Did you use a bank to pay this, or some other way?  Obviously looking for the cheapest and easiest way....and I don’t have an Australian bank account at the mo!

We transferred money in to our son in laws Australian bank account, sent him details from 2nd vac request form and he did it via mobile banking. BPAY is free but not all bank accounts let you use BPAY. The request form from PVCteam gives you options of how you can pay. Son in law sent me a copy of his payment receipt and I sent it to PVCteam as proof of payment (after all the trouble we had with the AOS payment). We had set up a bank account in Australia a couple of years ago and transferred money across a couple of months ago when the rate was relatively high.

We went into Commbank while on holiday and enquired about BPAY in preparation. Just as well we did as they had to increase the BPAY limit on our account up to the max which I think was $100k.  Not sure why but for some reason we wouldn't have been able to increase the limit online (or by telephone).  Worth checking in advance!

Just for anyone new here, BPAY is an Australian bill payment system and only available through Australian banks/organisations (not to be confused with Barclays bPay in the UK). If you don't have access to an Australian bank account then you can't use BPAY!   Be aware that if you make a payment to a new BPAY recipient on your account you may recieve an SMS to your mobile phone with a validation code in order to complete the transaction.  So also worth while making sure the mobile phone number on your account is current.

  4. Question to any 143 applicants please who may have gone to Australia on a subclass 600 (probably with a return ticket) but hoping to have been granted your 143 visa during your stay.
Did anyone ship any household items at the same time? (not large things like furniture, beds etc.) If so did you have to do anything special for customs etc. for when your shipment arrived?  Or, did you perhaps decide to leave everything in storage at home until your visa was granted?  Thanks in advance to all!

i was also unaware that there were additional costs involved purchasing a house on a 173 visa - would anybody know what the % is ?

I considered this at one point a while back then quickly gave up the idea when I realised you are essentially a foreign investor. You have to go through a lot of red tape and pay for the privilege. I think if you buy a property you also pay a much higher rate of the Australian equivalent of stamp duty.  The information out there on the web but can't remember where I saw it. If you're going to see a financial advisor in the near future then it's likely they could help you with that.

Still a way to go for us yet but need to start thinking about tax and pensions I guess - gulp !

Is it better to just leave any pensions you have until retirement age and then take them or transfer across when you emigrate ?

Are there companies that advise on all financial implications with a reasonable cost as this emigration malarkey is quite expensive:)

    thanks in advance folks

I took advice on this while on holiday in Australia from a financial advisor who specialised in this field.
It's quite a complicated process, there are lots of rules and regulations which are regularly changing.  You should definately seek the advice of a specialist in this field.

I’m sure there will be some on here that are trolls and have nothing to do with parent visas. There will also be people like me. I have been a member of this site for over fours years, have posted in excess of a thousand comments and have tried to help a great many people by responding to their posts/questions.  I simply do not wish to put a timeline up for personal reasons. You mention genuine members, are you are meaning people like yourself, all 35 comments from you and less than 3 months a member. Putting a timeline doesn’t define who is and isn’t a member. People taking time to contribute to the forum does. Just to clarify, I am a real person, I have a real parent visa application in the system and thankfully, I am much nearer the finish line than many, including you.

Oh Tulip1 I hope you didn't think I was referring to you in any way!  By genuine I mean people who are here for a genuine reason rather than the length of time someone has been a member.  You seem genuine to me,  from your previous posts I notice you appeared to be applying for your visa in Feb 2017.

According to an earlier post by moderators on the same subject there is no requirement to post timelines. Their solution was to change your settings to “ignore”  the poster so you don’t see their posts . Also probably the best way is quite simply not to answer any post without a timeline  which is what I do. If people  didn’t  get a response - of any sort - they will hopefully  realise it’s not worth posting.  .

Moderators  could we also have a setting to actually “block” posters as well ?

It's tempting I know!  It's also possible that we have some amongst us making comments on here who have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Australia or parent visas and therefore wouldn't have a timeline.  Sometimes you do get sad individuals who sign up to forums and have no interest in the topic, they just want to provoke the genuine members and cause bad feelings.  I think they are referred to as trolls!

@Biggsy Thank you very much for your info.

But we did it through another visa (tourist) not 143.  I don't know if I have to send the form via email again.

I'm not sure as I haven't had to do that, fortunately we still have about 5 years left on our passports. The next post after that one also had the same email reply you quoted but I think they said it took over 40 days to update.  There was also another post here (which I can't seem to find) had a similar situation but they were able to somehow see online that the passport details hadn't been updated,  eventually they did get changed.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to update our passport details (143 visa).

Our previous passports were expiring in less than 4 months when CO contacted us for more information.  We decided to have new ones and just got them today.  Can we update through immi account, which we just did.  The only concern is that we can only update through our current tourist visa and not 143 visa because 143 is not shown in immi account.

    Did you see this post?

Why are some people so resistant to completing their Timelines now in order that others may benefit from their dates?  Some have been asked to do so on several occasions, yet still expect help from others.

Click on your name, top right of page, and you will find information on how to complete and update your signature.

Come on guys you know you want to! Mummy always said you should play nicely, share and not just take things from others.

It's too easy 3 clicks and you're there.

I'm based in Australian.  Applying CV 143 for my parents.  I am sure you can invest as a foreign investor.  There might be more red tapes to jump through though.  Try a different advisor or maybe an international broker that has Australian presence.

Thanks florafilan, that makes perfect sense now, I didn't realise the visa was for your parents rather than for yourself.  I knew about about the foreign investor option but as you say lots of red tape and not really worth persuing now in view of the amount of time we have left to wait (I hope 🤔)

Thanks for the updated figures Looking at them  there was an absolutely huge jump in applications for May and June 2017. Coincidently I believe  this is apparently  when the Australian govt announced  they were looking into creating a temporary 3/5 year parent visa - the 870!!

I suspect many applied because they wondered whether the govt were doing this because they were perhaps considering ending/suspending  the usual CPVs like NZ??

It was mentioned in parliament when Senator McKim queried the long delays in assessing CPV - the government spokesman said they were surprised that there was a spike in parent applications at that time and they didn’t know why!

If these figures are correct then May/June 2017 applicants (I am one!) will face an exceedingly long delay as will those after those dates.

Yes I feel your pain Linda, almost 9,000 applications in just 2 months.  Had we known how many applications were in front of us at the time I'm not sure we would have bothered to apply.

    Hi all ,

Since 143 visa processing for 2016 Queue has started, I am also joining the forum.

Applied for my dad (mum was not keen I know it is weird) around 25 Oct 2016. Acknowledgement email 31st Oct 2016. I lodged using an immigration agent.

She reckons my dad will get his PR by Nov 2020.  I am predicting he will be called for documents in 9 months and PR in 13 months but let's see :).

    Hi Pars90

I think PR by Nov 2020 might be a little optimistic.  Not sure if you've seen the original PDF doc I uploaded here. (updated version below) Using those government figures it calculates that there are 9,554 173's +143's applications between the last known request for docs (4th Nov for 12th Jan 2016 application) and October 25th 2016 when your Dad applied.  Based on that, even if they achieve the full parent visa annual quota of 7,175 it could still be a further 16 months before being contacted for additional inf/docs.  However, we don't know how accurate this is because none of the information from them can be trusted! 😫  Also we don't really know how the parity issue with onshore applications will affect the progress.  There are 6,400 ahead of us so I'm not expecting to be contacted for further info untill around Sept/Oct 2020.

Updated version of the report for all who are interested.  I'll run another one off when some Feb 2016 applications are requested for additional info/docs.
