We can have a guess based on this-!

Possibly queue assessment which may be like that for 103 - unfortunately that particular assessment always ended up with a queue date a couple of years later thereby adding to the wait time !!

And migration report for year ending June 2020 saw the refusal rate jump from 6% to 18% - coincidence??

Yes it's interesting, I just saw another table like the one I just posted but from January 2019.  For all the CPVs the queue assessment dates were exactly the same as the visa assessment dates.  Doesn't look like they were carrying out queue assessments at that point.

The same can be said for medical check. You passed medical check today doesn't guarantee you would pass in 5 years time. Or you have clear crimical record today, but you could still commit crime in nedt 5 years.

Anyway, you lodged your 143 in July 2018, you'll be able to tell us then? 😀😀

Queue Assessment for the 143/864 and 173/884 always used to say N/A in the Auto Response email up until as recently as 7th October 2019!  I wonder if it was something new introduced to filter out applicants who have no chance of ever being succesful.  However, we may never find out!

Gets me thinking how we could create a 'similar level of public awareness'...

Might not do any good but went to the web page

    https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times/family-visa-processing-priorities/parent-visas-queue-release-dates#

    Where is states

"However, based on current planning levels, we estimate new Contributory Parent visa applications lodged that meet the criteria to be queued are likely to take approximately at least 58 months to be released for final processing.

At the bottom of the page clicked on "Tell us what you think of this page" (or "Feedback" both options do the same thing).

Selected 1 star,  selected "Content" and amongst other things said how they are misleading people and taking money from them when they may not even live long enough to be processed.

60,000 queued at 4,500 pa at the moment seems more like 13-14 years to me.  I've already said my piece, won't make any difference to me but made me feel better 🙄 If enough people do this maybe it will help others in the future.

Hi, can anyone advise me please on following-

it is regarding initial entry date. Recently one of my close friend’s parents and his brother has been granted visa 143 offshore. Do all the family members have to do initial entry to Australia together or they can also travel on seperate dates and do initial entry separately?
thank you all the your advise.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember someone posting on here that you can enter on separate dates but the main applicant must enter first.  Not sure how accurate this is though.

    Thanks.

I see your lodgement was in July 2016, but almost 4 years later no updates from the department? Do you have any idea what's going on?

Hi @vimaus5 the problem for many people on here is that the immi website only tells you how long it's taken for someone to be processed who has just had their visa granted today. It doesn't tell you how many people are currently in the queue which is of no use to anyone.  As you can see by my signature we were told 12-18 months when we applied but later found out there was already 28,000 applications ahead of us.  The annual cap was just over 7,000 per year at the time which has since reduced to 6075. We are not expecting to here anything until around the end of this year.  Unfortunately many applicants only find out the truth when they come across forums like this one and after they've paid the intial fees.   Because there are more and more applications each year the wait just gets longer and longer all the time.  As of now I reckon there must be at least around 45,000 queuing, with the current cap annual of 6,075 that's 6-7 years.

    Hi everyone,

I just signed up for this forum and wanted to ask if it is a good idea to prep and lodge for 143 yourself, instead of using an agent?
I've looked into what's required and it doesn't seem that difficult (plus I did my partner visa myself 4 years ago/PR granted this year).

All agents I checked charge 5-6K fee and it's basically same with the department's application fee. So I'll have to fork out $12K just to start.

Has anyone lodged/processed (and hopefully got granted) a 143 visa themselves? What are your experiences?

    TIA

We paid a similar amount to @Rosiejaq around £1,000 here in the UK. If you use an agent only use a MARA immigration agent.  You can search for one on the govenrment website using the link below but at the moment the web page seems to be broken and doesn't return any results.  Avoid imigration lawyers unless you specically need one as they will charge you a small fortune.

We used a UK based MIRA agent for our 143 and don't remember the charges being that high.

Strange yes that comes up but others I tried didn’t. There does seem to be an anomaly. I’ve waited 2years 11 months already and using the numbers in front of me and a cap  of 6000 I have a Further potential wait time of 3 years 8 months making a total wait of 6 years 7 months yet a date of February this year would imply a three month wait now and a further 5 years 8 months  so 5 years 11 months which is a shorter time than earlier applications ??
it’s possible that after they process the spike that happened in June 2017 the queue will move a little quicker?

    Hi Linda

I put my date of 7 July 2016 in and it says there are 7250 in front of me!  However, using the other data from immi (in the reports which I've uploaded here on occasions) if I calculate backwards from the 7 July 2016 I have to go as far back as October 2015 to get the same number!  We can all see that others on this forum with application dates of for the first quarter of 2016 have already been granted.  I've included the 173's and also taken into account that the 864's and 884's up to Jan 2017 have already been processed.  Maybe I'm missing something or perhaps it's like most of the CPV queue information immi publish you can't rely on.

I applied for 143 subclasses straight and I have joined the queue for this one? I see currently they are processing applications from 2016, I am guessing this will mean my turn will come by 2024(hopefully).

I applied for subclass 143 straight in April 2019 and got acknowledgement by May 2019.

As of March this year there were at least 39,000 CPV applications (lodged up to April 2019) which had still not even begun to be processed.  Based on the current annual cap of 6,096 that equates to just under 6.5 years. Then you need to add the number applications lodged between May 2019 up to April 2020 when you applied (which I don't have any figures for).  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I would guess your parents possibly have around 7.5 years to wait before they even begin to start being processed.  Of course this assumes the annual cap remains at 6,096 and that immi actually manage to process/grant that number each year.

    Good luck

  10. Not sure if anyone else has seen this. It was in the text of the auto response email received from WAParents today. 😥

    IMPORTANT NOTE

Finalisation of many Parent Visa applications will be put on hold for a period of approximately two months. The situation will be reviewed in late May 2020, and further extension/s will be provided if necessary.

Ah right. Also wouldn't the 143 applications also include those that have already secured the 173 and have now applied to transition to the permanent visa?

The reason I ask is because on the migration report it states that the number of visa grants does not include those instances where the temporary to permanent conversion happened. I.e. the 173 grants get counted only once.

I'm not sure how immi count those,  always wondered about that myself.  Don't forget these are the number of applications which will differ slightly from the numbers granted. There aren't actually that many 173's included in those figures anyway.  Out of the 39,559 total shown at the end of that report only 2,097 are 173's (5.25%)

Thank you for the information. I appreciate how much time you’ve been putting into preparing all of the pervious lists. It’s a pity we didn’t have data like this a few years ago, as it would have saved a lot of disappointment. It’s much better to have a realistic timeframe for the CPV process and it’s a disgrace that immi doesn’t disclose the full extent of the queue length to new applicants.

It's really no trouble at all. I extracted the data and designed the report template a while back. Now I just have to tick a box or two, enter a couple of dates and the result pops up on the screen within seconds.  As you say it's a shame immi don't publish the queue data,  they could easily do it.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to see progress for all these 143 visas, but I’m starting to become a little paranoid now.

Are there any other 173ers with Jan, Feb or March 2016 lodgement dates and are also still waiting to hear from immi? Have I missed the email? Have they lost my application?

Too many negative thoughts… I need more wine!

    Hi SusieRoo

This a snapshot of some of the 173 applications separated out from the 143/173 combined report I posted.  Seems strange that youv'e not heard anything yet.  But I suppose you would only hear of other 173ers if they were English speaking and on this forum.  Been a bit quiet for 143's too lately. Also I've noticed in the past with 143's that some are processed weeks out of application date sequence.  More wine is good! 🤪 🍷

Thanks for this. I did originally think another three years for my June 2017 application but that’s based on 6000 as you suggested. I do think it’s likely to be longer as they’re not  meeting the numbers they could give out. Think it’s been around 5600 recently.

Could it be that the 5600 is the number of visas granted rather than the number of applications processed.  Just trying to be optimistic for you!

  15. Just updated this report so all the poor soles waiting in the queue can see where they stand.

The criteria assumes everyone with an application up to and including April 2016 has had a request for further docs.

The original source of this data (link in the report) was from a freedom of information request someone submitted. It only covers applications up to the end of April 2019.  If anyone can find a more recent similar document at any point please let me know. I will be more than happy to include that data and continue to post updates here after my own visa has been granted.  Based on a quota of around 6000 visas per year you can foecast approximately when you might be contacted for further docs. Providing of course the quota doesn't change and processing doesn't pause for any reason!

3 separate days, 3 attempts by my daughter to do AoS online, their site keeps crashing, am loathe to do paper application!
very irritating! Will give it until end of this week to see what happens.  She is going into work extra early tomorrow to have another go!! 🤬

Very frustrating, I know the site can be flakey but it may be worth trying a different browser. Some of those can also cause problems.  Good luck.

That's weird. Some people applied April 2016 and has already got the RFI.

Yes I' noticed that. We used a MARA agent and who said sometimes the applications get processed outside of Australia.  The agent had one visa recently processed by the Australian embassy in Dubai.  Maybe this is why they're not be processed in exact date order. Who knows!

I have considered 600 visa. However I’m concerned about what happens during my absence. What do people do about leaving their home unoccupied.? About mail? About their car and probably lots of other queries too. If someone could point out the best way to deal with all this I’d be grateful

Hi Linda, if I had lodged around the same time as you and circumstances allowed it, I would have applied for the new 5 year visa, sold up lock stock and barrel and just gone. Assuming they have almost finished requesting further info for March 2016 applicants, there are just over 20,000 143 parent visa applications between the 1st April 2016 and your lodgement date in the queue.  I admire you If you can stick it out but I don't think I could deal with that.  Life is too short and getting shorter,  I don't think any of us can really afford this amount of time for life to be on hold. Good luck!

Hello, Can anyone please advise if a third party can pay the 2nd VAC? We have an account with HSBC Australia but their daily limit for BPay is not high enough to pay the full Visa amount. Apparently this limit cannot be increased even for the purpose of one payment. We're not in Australia so can't visit an HSBC branch ourselves. Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it?  Our daughter or son could pay it for us through their own bank account if that is acceptable.

    Many thanks, Christa

Hi Christa not sure how much you personally have to pay but we were able to increase our BPAY limit to $100k in preparation. We chose to go into the bank (commbank) to do it while on holiday there last year. Not 100% sure but I seem to remember the person at bank saying we could increase the BPAY limit ourselves online! I believe $100k is the limit for none business accounts. I think you may also be able go into the branch in Australia to make the payment from your account over the counter. We have also done this at a commbank branch as the max total daily payment/transfer you can do for yourself is $20k. Hope this helps.

Hello all, I received a no caller ID phone call and my hunch it was the AOS folks. I logged into centrelink and says the AOS has been completed. But, I dont see any online request for bank guarantee and uploading further documents..? has anyone faced this before? Thank you

I've seen other members on the forum say that they got a text message in advance from AOS advising they will get a call and to make sure you answer. Not sure how far in advance you get the text though.
