I got a call today from the Immigration department to tell me that our 143 visa was progressing.

They requested the VAC2 payment and would start progressing applications from the 1st July 2021 as the cap has already been exceeded for 2020-2021. The representative also mentioned they are all hands on deck and going to try and approve as many applications as possible.

Look's like things will start moving again for all those that are waiting, stay positive!

Originally applied in April 2016 for reference.

Hi @tonys, congrats on getting some contact from the department regarding your application. may I know your current status? are you onshore or offshore. Not that it will make a huge difference as your lodgment date is April 2016 and there were few may 2016 applicants also getting their files processed, but just for information. thanks

I totally agree that no information is better than the wrong information. If they put the correct information on then parents could make an informed decision before applying.
I know I’m one of the lucky ones but when I applied it said 18 to 24 months. We thought ok if it takes 2 years then another 6 months to move over that’s just about right for us. It took more than double that length of time, it’s so unfair on new applicants who put their application in now. 😢

And then there are people who say that their migration agents have also quoted them the visa will be granted in 58 months as that's what is mentioned on the gov website. Again wrong information from a so called professional. I really feel for them as either they don't want to do their own research/have the resources to do so unfortunately or are clearly misled by someone with the wrong info.

    Thanks for that.

looking at Qatar airlines, they go from Heathrow to Doha and then to Melbourne or Adelaide, then onto Brisbane. Does anyone know if you have to quarantine twice ie in Melbourne then in Brisbane.

I reckon if its a connecting flight then you dont need to leave the airport and catch your connecting flight from melbourne or adelaide. And then just quarantine in your last port of arrival i.e. brisbane..

Have seen a few posts on social media where immi have taken the money but not issued  the visa - waiting till borders open. If they issued, you would lose that time before they opened and looking like end 2021 early 2022 before that happens. You couldn’t enter before then as it’s only a temporary visa. People may prefer to have the money in their bank rather than  the govts.

More on that yes you may loose the sponsorship application fees as it has a 6 month period to apply for the actual 870 once the sponsorship is granted. However wont hurt requesting the department if they are able to provide an extension for that due to the borders being closed and no point loosing on the whole of 3 years for the parents. Worst case you may only loose the sponsorship fees and pcc and all which you might have to do again but If I was in your situation I wont apply for the applicants now knowing they can't fly on a temp visa.

This is the complete page he uploaded. I cropped out initially as I thought it wasn't my information to share. He said there're other documents in regards to police clearance, health examination, etc but he didn't share those. Any thoughts?

Can we check if the applicant is currently onshore on 600 or 870? If so then there could be a possibility that DHA is prioritizing where the applicant is onshore.

    Hi all,

I have submitted 143 visa, can you explain me what is VAQ and when is it requested generally? Is it split in 2 parts?

Hi, If your signature is correct with an application month of April 2019 then please wait very patiently for at least 7-9 years for any information seeking email or contact from the department. Let alone the 2nd VAC request.

  7. Congrats @SusieRoo, as pointed by someone here and looking at the people who are updating about more docs requested or their application progressing they all are 173 holders applying for 143.
I haven't seen anyone who has applied for 143 to start with getting any requests or contact by DHA. Is that still the case? Or are there any 143 applicants being requested for more docs?

  8. Not onshore and waiting very patiently for my mother's visa.

The entire idea/suggestion of implementing such amendment is due to the only fact that parents are of an age that is the most vulnerable and the way this virus is spreading if we can restrict our old parents stay in Australia if they are already here where it might be safe than other countries (only assuming) than why not.

How many times has a migration lawyer seen 8503 been deferred in such a scale as someone here only suggested that they have seen many of their applicants have received it in hours if not days. That was never the case. DHA has asked people to apply for new visas to avoid over staying and breaching visa conditions which is brand new work/processing I reckon and the fees is not that exorbitant either compared to the parent visa 864 or 143.

Not trying to skip the line and make my way as I already said but just a thought to help in any way possible. One off amendments can happen in these unprecedented times. We are all in this together and can only do so much.

  9. With these unprecedented situation we are in and conditions changing everyday as a result government needing to hand out billions of dollars to support the economy and most affected, there have been so many changes already to make those into effect and help. I reckon govt needs to make some money or find new ways to do so.

Even a small change in the law could be helpful I reckon!

    Latest update from test email

    IMPORTANT NOTE

Finalisation of many Parent Visa applications will be put on hold for a period of approximatelytwo months. The situation will be reviewed in late May 2020, and further extension/s will be provided if necessary.

As soon as we have advice that restrictions at our Border have been returned to more normal arrangements, the Department will update information on the web site.

At this time, we are not legally able to amend visa conditions and existing notifications to visa holders.

    Bridging B visas (BVB)

If you are a BVB holder and you have departed Australia and you cannot return to Australia by the time your BVB cease date, your BVB will cease.  There is no provision to extend the travel date of the BVB.  You cannot be granted a BVB whilst you are overseas.  If you have lodged an application for a BVB and you wish to withdraw the application, please contact us by email to:parents@homeaffairs.gov.au

You may apply for a refund of a withdrawn BVB application via “Manage Payments’ in the ‘My Payments’ drop-down tab of your ImmiAccount.  Here is the link to the Departments website for information on ‘Getting a refund’:

    https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/change-in-situation/get-a-refund

In my opinion, the Government should instead speed up the process and determine if there are any 143 applicants that are onshore and process their applications.. I'm sure they will be willing to pay the 2nd vac which would help government with some revenue instead of handing out bvb or asking them to apply for any other visa to stay in aus if their visa's are going to end soon.

  11. Hi All,

I think @Alan Collett already mentioned about this but for everyone who are planning to lodge a 870 long stay parent visa before applying for 143 should read the latest update in the auto  response from the parents mailbox.

My interpretation is that if you apply for 870 or have an 870 prior to applying for 143 (if thats what someone is willing to do) then you are not eligible, people who have already applied for 143 and have an acknowledgement from the dha would not be affected.

  13. You need to provide permanent addresses for any country where you have lived more than 12 months. In your case as you stated you only lived in the UK, just provide you addresses if more than one. You need to mention the month you started living "from" and "to" for each address. if you have only lived in one house for the last 10 years i.e. from February 2010 to February 2020 then only mention that one address. hope that helps
