    Hearing aids

@newjez Sorry, can you say that again?? I didn’t hear you Yep,thats how it starts. I thought that about hearing aids too but I’m told they are now bespoke programmed, according to your own hearing issues ie:high or low frequency decline. The cheap ones from China only amplify sounds you can already hear.

    Hearing aids

Wow Mike, that seems like a really good deal! Hope they help. Mine are great so far, maybe a bit of adjustment needed but they are really helping. Just feel ripped off at the price I’ve paid.

    Hearing aids

@ali yeah, they did a good sales job on me. They said the $3,000 wouldn’t suit my needs.
  4. @llessur Brilliant! Your map is great! I lived in Henley Beach and your map is spot on @AliQ we now live on the Sunny but there’s not really any bad areas. Maybe a few bad neighbours or bad streets but can’t really think of a bad Suburb?

    Hearing aids

@newjez Unfortunately not, @Quoll is 100% right. My hubby is type 2 diabetic and has to pay for all his meds too. They were free on the NHS in the UK.
  6. Try something like... Looking him in the eye without smiling and saying ...I don’t go skinny dipping? What made you think I did? That way it’s direct but your not accusing him of anything either. It should make him think about what he’s saying.

    Hearing aids

Just purchased my first hearing aids, they cost me almost $8,000! & come with a 90 day money back guarantee. I’ve never had them before and was expecting to pay around $2,000 max But Ive just found the exact same ones $2,500 cheaper at another clinic. We don’t have private heath insurance so have paid out of pocket and that’s a lot of money to us. I feel a bit ripped off tbh. What would you do next? Go back & explain the situation? In the hopes of a partial refund. Ask for a full refund and go to the other clinic? Really happy with the customer service and timeframe with the company I purchased them from, so feel in a bit of a dilemma.
  8. Sounds like you’ve already done a lot of the hard work. Really hope it all goes well for you and you find a way. Australia is such a beautiful country. Good luck
  9. Hi S My advise for what it’s worth is... don’t give up on your dream just yet. Maybe try to contact people who’ve been through it already via the 186 PR visa page. Or put a post on there asking if they can recommend a recruitment company specialising in your profession. or look for a person in the same field as you or your partner and ask them if they used a recruitment company and if so which one to get the their sponsorship. I wouldn’t recommend coming out here without a sponsor though. It’s not like it used to be and jobs are getting harder to find especially in Cities like Melbourne, Sydney, & Brisbane. Weve just been through the 457 to 186 PR process and it wasnt easy, lots of uncertainty and stress but we did it!! They have also brought in extra fees and rules for sponsoring companies & applicants making it harder but it’s still not impossible to do it. As MaggieMay24 said If possible go for a 189 or 190 it’s a lot less stressful and the turn around time is quicker. Nothing in life worth having ever came easy Good luck to you & your family
  10. We did the same from Adelaide to Brisbane. Your ok, the 60 days doesn’t apply to you. He’s still working with your sponsor and as soon as his visa transfer comes through from his new company, he just hands his notice in & work out his required notice period, then you all move to sunny Sydney If he leaves his current sponsor without a new sponsor then you have 60 days to get a new one or they will cancel your 457.
  11. Thanks, he did try but it was refused because it is illegal.
  12. @VERYSTORMY Sorry, that’s what I meant to write 190 visa not 187 Definately an option
  13. The nomination is the sponsor/employer part so that won’t show up on YOUR Immi account or change the last updated date. If all your documents are up to date and they have everthing they need it could just go straight to finialised any time now
  14. Asking for a work colleague .. he has completed 2 years on his 457 and wants to apply for PR through ENS 186. He has asked if the employer will nominate him but he was told that it costs the company $5,000 now, it used to be $2,000 last year because of that, the manager keeps saying he’s thinking about it! and not commiting one way or another, basically he’s in lymbo! 1, What are the costs for? MA fees? 2, What are his options? Besides going back to the UK? Maybe 187? or leave the company and get another sponsor transferring the 457, which involves beginning the 2 or 3 years now again?
  15. Ours came through a week after the nomination was granted. If your status says “received” then I wouldn’t worry. (We were told the Nomination and Visa Applications are different departments.) If it changed to “Open” or “Inital assessment” then I think they will ask for more docs/ info. Ours went straight to Finalised. I’m sure someone will let me know if I’m wrong
  16. @Nora @bigbroWe were told by our MA that the nominations are dealt with by one department and the application was dealt with by another after nomination approval. You should receive a copy of the nomination approval from your sponsoring company too. This is what it says on ours ....As the approved nominator, it is essential that you provide the nominee with a copy of this letter and the attached nomination approval notice and a copy of the duty statement for the position.
  17. Merry Christmas Don’t disappointed, your so close now and it’s worth the wait.
  18. No,it won’t go to the back of the queue. Only thing will be the “last updated” date will change.
  19. My husband transferred his 457 after 18months on a 4 year 457 visa. No, their current employer will not know the process is going on. I recommend you speak with a Migration agent though as the new employer is required to already have an existing (and valid) approved 457 Business Sponsorship or lodge a new one to become an approved 457 Business Sponsor. The rules change constantly regarding applying for PR ( we just got it ) He had to work for the new employer for 2 years, then he could apply for PR which took another 10 months to be processed.
  20. Last updated means just that ..It can be an update from you, your MA or a Case Officer.
  21. For us the first we heard was that the employer nomination had been approved. Then 1 week later on our Immi account the “last updated” date changed, then the same day the status changed to “Finalised” I think that if they had needed any more docs, it would have changed to “open” or “Inital Assessment” maybe? Once the status changed to Finalised, I called our MA to tell them it had been granted. The grants will appear as messages on your Immi account.
  22. Thanks, you have a wonderful Christmas too. Won’t lie, I did my fair share of praying recently.
  23. We got PR!!!! So relieved! They didn’t ask for any other documents. Nomination granted exactly 1 week ago. Immi went from Recieved to Finalized today. Sincerely, want to wish the very best of luck to everone still waiting
  24. Our nomination was approved last Wednesday. Immi status still says Reveived so we’re hoping our application will be looked at any day now. I contacted our MA on Monday left a voicemail but she only emailed me back today. Her email said basically ... it still says Received at the moment they may ask for more Uk police checks as they expired in November 2018 Question 1: we haven’t been back to England since Feb 2017 so will they ask for updated ones??? She also said ...our Australian police checks run out 30th Jan 2019, so they might ask for new ones of those too?? Question 2: Why they are still valid? Then she finished the email off with .. Hope you have a lovely Christmas!
