Yeah we've had the university sent the full course outline directly to AHPRA, and that clearly shows that medication management is within some of the modules. Unfortunately the university had stated that they won't issue a letter breaking it down anymore; their reasoning for this is that they have never had to provide it before, and they believe what they have provided is sufficient.

I hope your 190 comes through soon 🙂

Would the University state that in an email to your assessing officer? It would make AHPRA work with what they have, if they decline your registration you should appeal.

    Hi.

It's 341111 General Electrician. I was copied into an email at 5am this morning.
When I emailed my agent she said that I shouldn't of been sent it and it should of gone through them as our representatives.
I imagine the visa application requires a extremely longer wait though lol.

    Congrats!

From what I've been looking at it could be as quick as 100 days if you have all the documents. If you get asked for more docs you have to wait approx another 100 days from case officer contact. Just an observation.

    Hi.

Have you heard back yet? I lodged my EOI on the 15th November and had the invite today. Just short of 4 weeks. I was shocked at how fast it was as my agent said it's taking 8-10 weeks.

SA has been getting faster and faster with processing. Someone on the forum thought they had increased staffing to get through the applications.  Mine took 8 week and 2 days when it was still at 10-12 weeks for processing.

What ANZSCO did you apply for?

  4. Yes, I struggled with a few things with AHPRA and the medication management was one of them. I ended up having the University send the course outline directly to AHPRA. I also studied at another university and they sent a letter stating that I had covered medication management and it was throughout my courses, they included how I was tested on the content and how I was signed off on practicum for medication delivery.

So your best bet might be to have the school write a letter detailing the medication content (pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics) , examination methods with the text book details and the number of approximate hours of study . Have them email it to your assessment officer and mail the original copy.

    Best of Luck

SA NOMINATION CAME THROUGH THIS MORNING!!!!!!!

For those counting and awaiting their invite, that's 7 weeks and 0 days (I've updated the spreadsheet).

I'm going to pay my MA their visa installment fee today and they've quoted around a week to get everything sorted for the draft visa application. Fingers crossed the application will be in by the end of next week!!!!!!!

Best case scenario: direct grant, flat sells easily, we're in Adelaide by the end of summer 2019. More likely to be late 2019 or even early 2020 but we can dream.....

Beers on Henley beach - I don't care what season it is.

Congratulations, I've been thinking about your grant all week. Soo glad it came through!!!

  6. I think NSW looks at occupation first, then points, then English score, then experience and then earliest EOI submission date.   Its a shame you missed out with SA. They took the special conditions off for the 2018/2019 new year but it quickly filled up and conditions went back on about 7 weeks after I submitted in September.

You mentioned that you are a oncology nurse, would you be able to qualify as a 254421 medical practice nurse? This could give you more options. SA still has availability under this Anzsco code, with no special conditions for a 190 visa. If you apply before conditions get put on and you meet the 5 yrs work experience you might get sponsorship.

  7. @Gwatson Unfortunately with 65 points, it will be a long wait for NSW. They invite people with the highest points first. If there is a way for you to increase your points I would recommend going that route. If your not locked into NSW maybe look at another state that doesn't invite by points first for example South Australia (South Australia has special conditions now for Nec nurse as they filled most of their quota this year for that Anzsco code).

489 visa could be an option as you get 10 points when sponsored for that.

I am quite simple really. I live at home still (I know!). I have been doing this Australia thing for a long time. I first when to Australia when I was 16, I traveled alone to see relatives. Since then I have been many times over the years. I did a working holiday visa when I was 20 - 21, my 21st I was sailing around the whitsunday islands. I first contacted my migration agent about moving when I was 18 but I was eligible at the time. I needed to build up more work experience and get some official qualifications under my belt. I did this but I then struggled with the English exam - I was never good at it in school. It took me around 18 months to get my marks. I never moved out from home because this was on the cards but because of the delays it just got longer and longer. But the good side is I can leave whenever as I have no place to sell etc. I should be on a 3 month notice at work but they made a mistake and it is 4 weeks instead. Its just my operation eye that is holding me back now.

Sounds like a great plan. I've been to Brisbane a few times in the past. People I went to high school with in the UK live just outside Brisbane. Have you been to Byron Bay in NSW? I used to live inland about 30mins in a small village called Dunoon.

We will have to find temporary accommodation in Adelaide area first then a long term rental. We are looking for a suburb close to commute to either University of South Australia or Flinders in Bedford Park. My youngest will be starting Uni and I think its best to base ourselves around her university (my husband may also be attending uni). I have always had a 30 min commute to work so driving 30 or 45 mins isn't a problem. Adelaide transit system looks really good, so I think it will be much better than where we live now. I do want to live somewhere with trees and birds, as I hate being in a concrete jungle.

  9. @benj1980 I originally put an EOI in with 65 points for a 189. It would take forever with 65 points to be selected. 70 points and I think you would get snapped up within months. I decided to apply for a 190 state sponsored and was invited with 65+5 for state sponsorship. Not sure about WA as they have a lot of criteria around state sponsorship such as type of nurse and years of experience. States offer 489 visa's and 190 visa's to a select few. She should talk to an agent and see what they recommend.

@JetBlast The Whitsundays are beautiful! I would love to take a trip up there. I did go to Cairns and Port Douglas though and the sea water was 27degrees, just amazing. I think you will be the first one to Adelaide. Do you have any Idea where you will base yourself when you first arrive?

    Question for everyone:

I know it's impossible to know for sure, but how long are you expecting everything to take from the date of your visa grant to the date you step foot in Adelaide?

    We're hoping for 3-4 months.

Need to sell the flat but we have a really great city center location, secure parking space and it was only on the market for a couple of days before we snapped it up when we bought it so hoping for a similar situation. Everything else like shipping, booking flights etc can easily be done in 3 months. We definitely want to be out by Oct / Nov time though, if possible.

Short version of our story. I moved from the UK to Canada with my parents at 18. After having my own children in my 20's I wanted to pursue nursing. Canadian universities did not give me full credit for my UK education, so I couldn't become a RN. Applied  to Australia and had multiple offers for the Bachelor of Nursing. I went with my 3 children to the far north coast of NSW, Lismore and studied nursing.  Family stuff came up and I couldn't stay in Oz after my degree so I ended up back in Canada. I have been back for 10 years this November. We want to go back to Oz, 2 out of my 3 girls are coming and cant wait (oldest is happy here). My husband has never been to Australia (He is Canadian), He is so excited for a fresh start and no more 7 months of winter. The  rough plan is :

    obtain visa March/April

    Sell house June, July, Aug

End of Aug/Sept all move  to Adelaide

My husband Chris will come back to Canada if he has a contract till the end of 2019. He will join us before xmas 2020. He is a systems analyst (IT).

    Nice reading everyone's potential plans.

We lodged EOI 190 for South Australia 13 weeks ago (end of august). Their website says processing time is 10 weeks. If it was a definite no, would we know by now?! And if the occupation is full, are there ever an extra invitations sent out?

I applied for the 190 South Australia State sponsorship Sep 9th and got approval Via email on the 8th November. Did you check your email and junk box , dId you log on to the SA website and check your application status. If still no approval, I would send them an email.

Hi we have just moved to Adelaide with our dog Alfred and we currently have a house in Mile End quite close to the main city area but we are wanting to move further out towards Modbury, Tea Tree Gully or surrounding areas. Back in the uk we used to live in Scarborough and do quite like the semi rural life style, we have taking a trip up to the Modbury area and really like it and we were wondering are there any private landlords in that area? we have got references from our past two landlords and we have got a reference for Alfred hes is quite a big dog Deerhound x Greyhound but hes a sofa dog loves nothing more than napping on the sofa. We are looking for a 2 bed house with a garden up to about $350 per week.

    Thanks

    Katie and Marc

Hi, Just reading your post and wondering if you moved out to Tea Tree Gully? If so do you like it? Is there a lot of wildlife in the area? Are you commuting into the city and if so how is it? We are hoping to get our visa next year and have been looking online at rentals in the area of Tea Tree, Banksia and Fairview Pk. Homely.com seems to be giving the areas good reviews, but your personal experience would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

We lodged our 190 today 15th Nov (16th in Australia). Police check booked for Dec 20th and will book the medical for around that same time. Time to get healthy lol

Lol! We've been losing weight since the middle of the summer to make sure the medicals go fine. I'm down 37 pounds at the moment but it's so much harder losing weight in winter.

It is very hard in winter.  Winter here, ranges from above zero if we are lucky good weather day, all the way down to -35.  it gets even colder when you factor in the windchill.

    |Congrats on being down 37.  that's awesome

How do you mean you have booked your police check please? You just fill out a form online. I did mine yesterday.

Here in Canada, we need to get them done by the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police). Not every detachment, especially in small cities or towns like we live in, has the ability to do electronic fingerprinting.  They outsource that to other third party places, which do electronic finger print, submit to RCMP and run a search against their database.

Then we get the "Certified criminal record check" - because doing it by name and id only is not certified.

Therefore, we have booked a time at this third-party provider to get them done.

  16. You say that you have 65 points, is this without the English test? You could potentially gain 20 points from the English test ( if so you could be in the running for a 189 visa). I would definitely go for the 190 visa (if you only have 65points); however, I think you need 5 years experience for a Queensland 190.  Other states such as Victoria consider nurses with less than 5 years though (they may be less inclined to sponsor you because you have family in another state) . It's definitely doable! I am also in my early forties.

What did you decide to go for? I would love to get a direct grant when we apply for the visa but can't have anything outstanding in order for that to happen so I'm thinking front loading the health checks is a good thing. But then if our application takes, say, 9 months to be accepted that only leaves us with a minimal time to go over and validate the visa. But I just want to get there as quickly as possible so I don't want to waste time sending in documents after the CO requests them if it could have all been done first time around.

So we are currently uploading all our docs. Plan to submit this week with payment. We have decided to wait for medicals and police checks until January. On immi tracker it looks like the case officer contacts you close to the 100 day mark. So if we can delay the medicals etc but still have them in before first contact it will still give us lots of time to get over there. That's our thoughts. Worst case we will fly over for a visit to enter before the date required.
