  1. Hi,

I am looking for any information regarding my situation. I ordered an Australian police check; the certificate came displaying both my maiden name and my married name.

Then I ordered a criminal record check with finger prints from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Canada (RCMP). The certificate just came and it only shows my Married name. The search was done using both names.

My question is do I need to get another Canadian RCMP criminal record check displaying my maiden name on the certificate?

I would appreciate all your thoughts, I will never ever change my name again as it is such a pain!!

  2. Just a quick question...My Australian police check shows my maiden and married name. The Canadian one finally came today, even though I asked them to search unnder both my maiden and married name the Certificate only displays my Married name. Does anyone have experience with this, do your police checks show both names?

With two dogs, you will likely have to take what you can get.   Real estate agents in Australia are reluctant to take even one dog, let alone two.

I've seen quite a few rentals with pets welcome in those areas and you could say it's not my first Rodeo! Ive been to Australia before and rented for 2 years with 2 dogs, a cat and 3 children. I'm sure I'll be just fine!

I got the first house I applied for(in less than a week) and I had outstanding references and Photos of the home I owned at the time.

i am wondering what resources did you use to research suburbs please?

Homely was a good site for suburb reviews. I also looked at google maps as I want to have older trees. https://www.homely.com.au

I also have been looking at the rentals, we have 2 small dogs and we have been a bit spoiled in the bathroom department as we are used to 3.5 bathrooms, so going down to 1 or 2 could be a challenge. Check out https://www.realestate.com.au/rent/

If I had my way and we got the golden grant then I would love to go straight away, but just trying to be a lil bit more realistic.

Have you looked at any suburbs you like at all?

Thanks for the link, I was just having a little look. There's been some very quick grants on there.

How long do the medicals take?

    Welcome to the forum,

For us 2 adults and 2 teens our medical with the doctor took 1 1/2 hours, then we went to the lab for the blood draw & urine, it was busy so it took 2 hrs. Then we did the X-ray the next day and it was quite quick only took 30 mins for all 4 of us.

Suburbs we have been thinking about are Aberfoyl Park area or Mount Barker

oh no! fingers crossed it comes through and you guys get it uploaded before the CO looks at your file.

Ive been scouring the net looking at what extra documents they request- all in the interest of making sure we have a complete file to hopefully get a direct grant! most of it is uploaded already, form 80s, payslips, etc etc

only thing I've found is our CVs, has everyone else uploaded their current CV? surely its all covered in the Form80 anyhoo - all I can find is a paper copy of mine from 2009! oops!

    meh!

We have done the same as you Jellica, we have uploaded so much I only have space on my upload area for the police check. I uploaded pay subs, bank statements, my employers tax form (T4), CV, reference, my notice of assessment from each tax year.....so much. Then I had the kids to cover on top of all that. A direct grant would be so nice but I would be shocked if we got one.

  7. Yes that round of beer on Henley Beach is starting to look like its going to be expensive! Hopefully Costco in Adelaide has a Liquor store.

We have been stressing a little with the Canadian police checks, we did them on Dec 20th and they are not here yet. Canada post has been trying to strike so they are painfully slow at the moment. So hopefully they come soon, as I want everything uploaded before they start looking at the visa account.

I submitted 2 EOIs in November last year but it now appears as if they have both been de-activated is it not allowed to submit 2 EOIs to different states for 190?

If you read the government website it says you can put in multiple EOI’s. Why you would want to, unless you have more than one Anzsco code is beyond me. If you get an invite to one of the states you must prove commitment to that state! How can you do this with multiple EOI’s? If you can’t prove commitment you will not get sponsored.

i recieved grant 4 weeks after i submitted medicals and PCC's so for those of u who have been asked for them you are close!!!!

Congrats on your 190 Grant! You must be so excited, when do you plan on moving?

When did you apply and what Anzsco code did you apply under?

  10. I agree with jet blast! I took the PTE and did much better on my second attempt. The exam was more about the structure of the writing, e2 language really helps you understand how to give them what they want. I found the test draining because of the limited time for each question. I aced it on the second attempt because I spent a week practicing!

Don't give up practice with e2learning and re do it.

I am quite aware of how long i need to study for to complete my degree, the cost of school and medical fees, the type of work we can get for part time hours. I’ve done my research. I was more looking for people’s personal experience who may have done it and been there as a student.

Thanks for the info Jenki75 really helpful. For the degree I’m doing the school fee will be 5000aud per year so not too bad. Did you work part time too? If so how did you find it fitting in with your study and children?

Sorry, just realized I never replied to this question. I did not work, but I did think about it at one point. Studying with 3 children was easier than I thought. My kids would go to bed at 730 and I would study until midnight Sunday night to Friday night. I never did school work during the day on the weekend as we spent time together instead. I only took 4 courses per semester though and I would have practicum during some terms. All in all I found it very doable, you just need good time management.

    Merry Christmas everyone indeed!

We've got a vet appointment on Christmas eve to get the rabies stuff sorted for our 2 indoor cats. Then our own medicals in early January and we should receive the police checks back in early January too. Hopefully, we won't get our first case officer check-in before then, so they won't have to request them, delaying things.

Medical results came back really quick and are already on the immi account. This time next year hopefully we will all be there!
