So it is safe to upload a Aus police clearance on your immiaccount even they don't ask it? I am thinking there is no harm doing this as you said it could work especially if no activity is happening with your case for a long time.

Wouldn't have thought so! I know that it's advisable not to overly supply documents and to keep it simple and relevant, but i think an AFP check is pretty relevant. For the $40 or whatever it could just shave off a bit of time for a CO processing. (note: this is pure speculation and isn't based on any evidence!)

I filed them in 'Other documents' and labelled as "[Name]_Good-Character-Evidence_Recent-Aus-Police-Check"

@supertoblerone my CO told me that they will do an onshore and offshore police checks. I have various places / countries that I had visited so maybe that’s why it took that long. Or maybe because heaps of people lodged their Aus citizenship app.

We actually supplied a new Aus police checks with our application. Judging by these comments it looks like we didn't need to! However it could work in our favour potentially, as we haven't left the country long enough to need any checks from other countries... the application was in a way 'decision ready' when we submitted.

It appears that most applications take a while to be processed. Could anybody advise if I could lodge my application a couple of months before I meet the 1 year PR requirement, given that I've been living in Australia for over 6 years?

You have to enter your PR grant number or TRN in to page 2 or 3 of the form (can’t remember exactly which), it then pings a database and checks for your eligibility date, if your PR grant is less than one year old it doesn’t let you continue.

Hi millski88, yes I feel lucky. So it is me and my wife, linked applications (both got invitations on Friday). Our history is similar to yours, we had two 457s and then moved on to a 186 that was approved last year. This year as soon as we met the residency requirement we applied for citizenship. Low risk country.

Nice! And could you tell me how you first discovered your application update with the test date - did you receive an email or did something change within Immi Account?

    Thanks.

Last Friday I received an invitation for the interview and test.  I applied on 5 June this year. So I guess the whole 2018/2019 divide is true.

The interview and test is scheduled for February next year but I'll try to move it forward.

Hey LAG. Wow that's crazy quick. Could I ask the basic details of your application? - How many applicants, which pathway, low risk/high risk country etc?

Could anyone in Melbourne share timings from approval to ceremony? I'm in Darebin City Council which doesn't hold ceremonies (anyone in this suburb know where the Department of Home Affairs normally send people for ceremony who live in this council?).

    My current timeline:

    - Applied: July 2018

    - Test date received: April 2019

    - Test taken: 25 July 2019

    - Approved: 29 July 2019

Have a look at this site: http://sharemytimeline.info/

    Hi Millski88,

I went through your profile and it looks like you are ENS 186 applicant who got his PR through this pathway. I got mine the same way and same occupation Marketing specialist. Just I want to ask what kind of documents am I required to submit? Mainly work related documents. Do I need to give them my work details when I submit my citezenship application?

    Thank you

    Hey

Are you applying for PR or citizenship?

Citizenship by any pathway is not dependent on employment (a particular job or employer). No work related documents need to be submitted for a citizenship application.

Mate hows things been? Great this PR malarky hey!

You were right about people heading back to the forum around this time. Wonder who else will turn up! Im mentally prepared for 2 years before I have a meltdown.

Ideally Im looking for 36 hours.

Ha! Yes 36 hours would be great.

In all seriousness though, taking in to account the activity I've seen recently I'd be happy to have a test booked in within 8-10 months. That'd be a good outcome. But yeah - try and mentally prepare for 12-18 months.

Things been good! Definitely glad to be off the 457 what with all the changes discussed/implemented in the last couple of years. Also glad not to have a 186 to put in or wait for!

    Hello citizenship people!

Back on the forum after a 12 months break. Conferral application is in today. So much easier than PR hey! Took me a few hours max.

What are the realistic wait times at the moment? Im aware of the published guidelines but what is the average we are seeing on the forum?

Seems crazy all over the place/pot luck, kinda like our 186 wait haha.

Have seen 3 months to ceremony, also seen 16-18 months with no test appointment.

Update on mine. Got my test invite today 😉

    Applied online: 22/03/2019

    Test invite: 24/06/2019

    Test appointment date: 13/09/2019

    Region: Yarra Ranges, VIC

I was expecting to hear nothing until at least next year so only waiting 3 months for a test date has made my day!!

3 of us applying, myself (British), wife (Thai) and daughter (14).

Both test dates at same time in same location (Melbourne CBD)

    Woah! That's amazing.

So frustrating to wait ,can see others get approval after short period, even we have updated all documents up to date.it seems  cook applications are not very concerned.is there anyway of checking or fast track the application ....

In the period i was waiting for my 186 TRT the applications did appear to be looked at in waves relating to occupation. Months might go by without a single cook appearing to be granted, then BOOM - a month of all the cooks being granted. It's really difficult and frustrating, but that's just the joys of visas i'm afraid!

It is the travel portion of your visa that expires (5 years). If this is the case you would need an RRV. But as your visa was only issued 12 months ago, hopefully you will have your citizenship before the travel portion expires!!

Great, so unlike visa to visa bridging periods, we don't get allocated a bridging visa or different conditions between PR and citizenship? It'd be just our luck to be caught out on the way back from holiday!

  16. Just a quick one to double check - our 186 visas issued in June 2018 are still active whilst we're in application for citizenship, right?

I stated on the citizenship app that we're away for a month in Europe next month. Is it correct that we don't have to arrange bridging visas if our 186 is still valid?

  17. Hi all

Since we last used Immi Account about a year ago the doc upload part looks to have changed. I've arranged all our evidence as really neat and tidy PDF docs, but now it seems to be converting each page in to a jpeg image?? Is this normal?

For example, a 10 page PDF doc which is a signed rental agreement, it's showing 10 uploaded jpeg images instead of a single PDF doc. Is this OK? Seems a bit weird!

    Thanks for any insight.

If you became eligible on the 3rd, then it would not let you apply until after the end of the 3rd. The whole of the day has to be complete for it to count.

Not in our case. Our PR was granted 14 June 2018 and at midnight last night the form on Immi Account let me continue (it previously stopped me when i had tested earlier).

14 June 2018 - end 13 June 2019 is equal to 1 year, literally speaking, therefore 00:01 on 14 June 2019 and the application is allowed.

Well I guess if they have never been then yeah, I'd leave it blank. If it lets you leave it blank then I'd say that was correct. Mind actually have been here, so that bit was easy. It amazing how often you have to enter the same into multiple times. For my holidays since I was 18, I filled all that out when I applied for PR, so they already have that, but you have to go though the pain of entering it all again. I'm just going to do the last 10 years for that.

    Regards,

    P.

Cheers. I found a couple of other posts about this online and have selected 'No' for my parents. It's just strangely worded!
