  1. I hadn't posted since the grant but just to confirm. Now in Oz. Applying for Tax number, bank account and medicare today. Job hunting tomorrow. Well maybe next Monday.
  2. Thanks for all the congratulations and kind wishes. I hope that your grants come as soon as possible. Nothing makes the wait easier other than knowing everyone is in the same boat. This and another forum have helped me stay sane.
  3. They only went and bloody granted it today. See signature for dates. Whoop Whoop.
  4. I think the grant has to be issued whilst you're abroad. You notify them of your travel plans and should be outside for 5 working days so the grant can be issued. Anecdotally people say the grant letter comes the same day as they leave but there is a risk it won't.
  5. Sort of good news. My case officer Rosemary emailed me asking to confirm if I've lived outside of the uk in the last decade. I confirmed that I had not. I mentioned that I'm travelling on the 4th. Hopefully good news soon
  6. I know. Same for me. That's now 7 people who applied after me that have their grants.
  7. Thanks, DV clearance makes sense. I had hoped being a solicitor, with enhanced DBS and being on the public roll would help with the good character part... but then again, maybe not.
  8. Can't see the images but that message has been there as long as I can remember.
  9. 6 working days before I fly. Would love for my visa in that time. 5 months, 20 days.
  10. I only submitted two in form 888. 1 from Australian friend in the UK who has known or entire relationship. 2 from Wife's sister also australian who visited us 3-4 times, stayed in UK for two years and came to our wedding.
  11. The following post is intended to be light heartedly funny rather than deeply bitter and sarcastic. Hi guys, great news. Got the golden email today for my husband. At last. I applied 《insert date 7 weeks after you》 I forgot to include any passport numbers and so got an email asking for these from the case officer 2 weeks later It turned out my husbands passport was expired so we were asked to renew it. 8 weeks layer that came. They then asked my husband to provide a police check. We uploaded that in two weeks. He was then asked to provide a statement about his time in prison which was uploaded a month later after he forgot to sign the first one. They also asked me to resubmit the 888 forms as they weren't completed by Australians. We did that too. CO asked we do our medicals two weeks ago. He went 3 days ago and we got the grant today. Good luck everyone. Just be patient. Look. I know it'll all work out and how lucky I am. I'm missing my wife. Been separated since 04th Jan. Flying out on 04th of March to visit her. A grant before then would save me so much hassle. Got it set up so that I wouldn't need to come back if the grant came.
  12. You shouldn't feel guilty... well maybe just a little bit. "I'd almost be tempted to advise someone to leave off a key document to generate an early request. Common theme of people applying after but getting the grant before. CO requested documents early. Squeeky wheel getting the grease principle" It seems the way of it. I suspect software / case management jumps files to the top of the pile and CO's just grant whilst they're looking at it. It creates some sense that you get punished for trying to do the right thing and diligently completing the application as thoroughly as possible.
  13. It's a lot like people being served ahead of you at the bar. People can say, don't worry, you'll be next... ... yeah but...
  14. Spot on. But I shouldn't have to sweat out worrying about having to leave and re-enter. Just good to have plans B and C in place.
  15. Found out the solution. You can apply for a EVisitor 600 onshore which costs $180 dollars and can be granted up to 12 months with no requirement to leave.
  16. They supposedly do. However I was warned by someone who did that on the second re-entry he was held at the airport. Questioned and told that he was abusing his visa and was only just let back into australia. Thanks for the tip. Just had a minor wobble of confidence.
