  1. thanks for this.... Do you know what i would have to do to become a WA resident? Meaning i assume i would have to prove that i'm permanently living there. I appreciate your help btw cheers
  2. Thanks for this. Does the first home owners grant (10k) rule apply to the paying stamp duty? Thanks
  3. Thanks Ali. Is that even if it is bought as an investment? The reason i ask, my understanding is that in NSW if you buy your first home as an investment instead of first home buyer, then the stamp duty has to be paid. I was think that it may be the same in WA. cheers
  4. Hi all I currently live in Sydney and im looking to invest. Initially (and still not totally against the idea) i was looking at Sydney, however, i'm now looking at Perth. The reason being is that apartments are cheaper and rent is similar to what i would get in Sydney, therefore meaning i wouldn't have to add as much to the monthly repayments. in Sydney, my understanding is that i wouldn't pay stamp duty as i would be a first home buyer. (i would live in it for 6 months before i would rent it out) My question is, if i was to select Perth to buy a property, as a NSW resident, would i get any first home buyer benefits? Thanks in advance.
  5. should have said its for the last week of our first honeymoon (long story) so im thinking of leaning towards thailand. ideally would like a resort that is all inclusive but also able to leave to and do activities a few of the days.
  6. ummm just somewhere different with lots to do as well relax. Afraid of going to a thai resort and not being able to be active when we decide to.
  7. Hi Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I am looking at a week's holiday in either an all inclusive thai resort or potentially dubai for a week. Has anyone any suggestions for either? Cheers
  8. Any recommendations of teeth whitening locations in Sydney? Any idea of how long it lasts and costs would be great. cheers

  11. Thanks NicF The reason i ask its because its a phone for my bro. exchange rate and no gst makes it cheaper than home. because its something that could be perceived as being able to bring back, are they likely to check when i come back in after my hol?
  12. Thanks for this. As im not a tourist can i still do this? will they ask questions?
  13. Hi I am bringing a quite expensive gift home for my family at xmas. I was told i can claim the tax back on this at the airport when leaving Australia. Anyone know anything about this? I am a PR holder and just going home for 3 weeks. Thanks
  14. Not to scare you but I had an awful experience using them. Sydney to Belfast was fine. On my itinerary coming back I noticed I had to change airports at London with only 3hrs 5 mins between landing and taking off. (App changing airports you are given a minimum of 3 hrs to get from one to the other) Now this was arriving in Gatwick collecting luggage, going across London to Heathrow at peak hour traffic on the first Monday after the new year. Then re check in to my next flight 2 hrs before it took off. It just wasn't do-able and I didn't want to risk it. I acknowledged this was technically my error as I should have checked and not assumed, however, my issue was that there was no warning or reminder that a change in airport was required. I noticed this with about 2 hours of booking and contacted them asap. They quoted me $1000 to change the booking. After a lot of arguing i got them down to 300$ (app a flight from Belfast to Heathrow had just become available) Felt that it was unethical for there to be no warning of changing airports before you finalise your booking. But I suppose changes in booking are a great money maker for them I wish you luck, but I would never use them again Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz

  16. As someone who has recently received their PR I'm still in the little honeymoon period of the relief that it has brought. Had always planned to apply for citizenship when the 12 months was up, but would have been relaxed about it being granted, unlike the PR, my life was a constant stress. The news of having to wait 4 years doesn't really bother me. I have an aussie partner, I plan on being here anyway so I don't see the big deal. However, am I missing something obvious which will effect me by remaining a PR holder rather than a citizen? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz

  18. Asking for a friend Having a beer with my mate who has both an Irish and British passport. He is a PR holder of Australia. His PR is attached to his British passport, however, he wants it to be attached to his Irish passport. Is this possible to transfer it? Thanks Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  19. Not overly important, but does anyone know where you can buy Crown Lager, but in cans, not bottles. On a recent flight to Perth, they had the canned version of these and they were so much better than the bottle (which is still pretty good), just wondering if you can buy them anywhere cos ive looked but ive had no luck....... Yes typical, irish guy thinking about beer
  20. Sorry if im being stupid, however, i am unable to locate this thread? was it transferred over to the new forum? thanks
  21. I got my good news on Saturday. The lady who called was extremely nice, she was in Perth and she informed me they were doing overtime. I have been very fortunate to get mine approved in approx 5.5 months. Lets hope they continue to do overtime in order to help clear the back log
