Hi all, just got the email this morning for medicals, Police reports and AOS. They sure are zipping through the months at the moment.... chance we could seek in with a Visa before Christmas.

No. AOS is $10.000 for the first applicant and $4.000 for each after that.

Not sure what DOHA is but am I right in thinking you have been asked for further documents.... police and medical etc. Great news if so as we are December 2015... so getting closer

I really feel for you Marilyn it must be so frustrating to be so near and yet still in the dark. We thought we would be living the dream by now not still waiting in the ever lengthening queue. Still every day that passes is a day closer to the dream. I really hope you hear that you’re visa is ready and waiting in the next couple of weeks.

So nice to hear your doing well Oz... our application was the same time as yours ... never thought we would still be waiting 3 1/2 years later with no apparent end in sight. Fingers crossed we will be contacted before the end of the year. Thanks for sharing your experience. Keep smiling. Shelagh

I don’t know if you are aware of how much it costs to be in residential care in UK but the amount we are paying for a contributory visa would not even cover one years fees. My mother was in residential care and the cost 2 years ago was more than £36,000 a year. That was only residential and not nursing care home. I don’t know the cost in Australia but I’m sure it would be more than UK. Very sad case, I hope she is allowed to stay for the time she has left but the government should not have to foot the bill.

I agree ..... it’s very sad but as you say rules are rules. If the family pay for her care perhaps they will let her live the short time she has left in Australia.... but the Australian people shouldn’t have to foot the bill for her care as she doesn’t meet the visa requirements. We all have to wait and see if we meet the health requirements and as we are all getting older we are mor susceptible to health problems. Very sad situation.

I only know of one person who applied in August 2015 and was asked for paperwork in February this year Rosiejaq. She has her timeline and a post on page 799 about half way down. Hope this helps.

Thanks Marilyn they certainly put you through a thorough exam.... I hope they get back to you quickly about the X-rays and it’s nothing to worry about... this whole process is stressful enough without added stress but nice to know they will work through things. Fingers crossed for you

Sadge only took two and a half years just 30 months!! You can’t have much longer to wait now.... good luck with a January visa
